I've been going to this place for years just because of how conveniently located it is for me, but the last year or more has really made up my mind that I'm not going to go here anymore for a handful of reasons.
The prices always were a bit higher than average, but now they are just ridiculous. You're looking at $14-16 PER ROLL. 2 rolls, you're looking at $30, not including drink and tip. But I might still be willing to do it if it weren't for everything else..
The food used to be great, but for over a year now I've started getting disappointing quality fish on some occasions. When it's good, it's good. But no one wants to pay the prices they have for a "maybe it's good, maybe it's bad". More than once I was served a roll with spicy tuna in it, only to find the tuna still frosty and slushy... FROM BEING FROZEN. Other times the seared salmon I've gotten is clearly not fresh. Lastly, there's nothing better than freshly fried, still-warm tempura! But more often than not the tempura shrimp in my roll will be just as cold as the rest of the roll, and sometimes rubbery and just sad. Take some pride in the food you are putting on a plate for your patrons to eat!
Lastly, and maybe the biggest deal breaker, is the horrible service that has become the norm. There are a couple star servers and chefs there. I've been going there so long they know me by sight. They've always been awesome and friendly. However all the other servers are so rude, and apathetic. My entire time I'm there I feel like I'm unwelcome and not wanted. They avoid eye contact when they sense I am looking toward them to ask for something. They truly come off as though they HATE their job and/or customers. The last time I went I walked through the door and stood in front of the counter. There was a lady behind the register doing something so I stood and waited for her to finish and then acknowledge me. I stood there for almost 2 full awkward minutes (literally) before she even looked up at me. 2 minutes is nothing, if someone says, "Hi, I'll be right with you." But I was literally standing 3 feet away directly in front of her and she kept her eyes dutifully averted and head down the entire time. I think she was looking at receipts or something. It doesn't matter though, I felt utterly and purposefully ignored.
I don't want to treat myself to a good dinner and then be treated like the staff just wants me to evaporate.
Nothing about this place is worth...
Read moreWell... I ordered through instacart which I guess is ultimately GrubHub. It showed that my guy was there waiting for the food but it took them like 20 minutes to get it to him even though the food was ready. When I got it, it was hot and just not edible at all. Plus they went cheap on the scallops.... Instead of the bay scallops that they used to serve in a nice ponzu sauce, they served rock hard scallops in mayonnaise. Yummy bad scallops in turned mayonnaise.... And I got the Cajun tuna roll which was mostly rice and hardly any tuna. If I wanted that I would have just gotten a tuna hand roll.... The Moon River rolls well I haven't tried them yet. I put everything in the fridge and ended up throwing the nigiri sushi which was the masago eggs, the salmon eggs, and the scallops away because I could tell that they were just bad because they were so warm. I spent like $115 just on the food alone.... Between tip and delivery fees and everything else I spent like $165 for food I can't even eat! NEVER AGAIN!!!! (Update/response: well I appreciate the response from Hana sushi, it doesn't explain why within a 15 minute trip the sushi became so hot and so inedible. Doesn't explain why the scallops were rock hard baby scallops.... Maybe you should update the description better so there's the consistency because the last time I ordered the scallops sweet scallops sliced thin and with a ponzu sauce.... That's what happened to quail eggs? What happened to Tobika eggs? Anyways, unless my Uber driver had the heater blaring directly into the bag of food that you made which just doesn't seem possible given that it's summer.... I somehow have to disagree I think that it got made and it sat there because you guys ignored him even though the food was ready. Been eating there for over 18 to 20 years..... Been in there long enough to know how you guys ignore people with a to go order. And you worry about people walking in and the people that got to pay their check and the people who call instead of the person that's already place an order and has paid for it. I remember sitting there one time for 30 minutes after my order was supposedly ready before the hostess even acknowledged that I was there. So yeah you can lie all you want, I know the truth from...

Dear manager
I have been a loyal patron of your establishment for the past four weeks, visiting twice a week, and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food and the custom rolls made at the bar. Yesterday, I ordered the same sushi I’ve had before, and it was fantastic. However, when I returned today and ordered the same roll, I noticed that it was half the size and missing a piece.
I politely asked the staff member preparing my order about the difference, explaining that yesterday's roll had six pieces, while today’s only had five and was smaller. The staff member didn’t offer an explanation. Instead, another employee, who had not been part of the conversation, interrupted and insisted that the roll was always five pieces. I showed him the menu, which clearly depicts the roll with six pieces. Afterward, he went back to make the missing piece, but the situation escalated from there.
The employee who had interrupted the conversation began displaying passive-aggressive behavior, slamming the sliding door to the sushi bar and throwing a large piece of salmon with such force that it missed and fell out of the bar. In his continued frustration, he then hit the receipt holder, causing it to fall onto the table area. Fortunately, it didn’t hit me.
This unprofessional behavior was incredibly disappointing and left me feeling unwelcome. As a loyal customer who has always enjoyed your food and service, I felt compelled to share this feedback. Regrettably, due to the behavior I experienced today, I will be leaving a one-star review and will be taking my business elsewhere.
I hope you take this feedback seriously, as it is important to maintain a professional and welcoming environment for all customers.
Thank you, Your...
