I will start by saying I am a huge supporter of creativity and diverse food options. Savage is by far the best food place in the inland empire to the point where we will drive 25 mins from Temecula to drop $150- $200 without a doubt. We have a huge budget to eat out, and according to my Google maps, I've been here over 25 times.
Unfortunately, the last handful of times we've had questionable service. Most recently, we both tried a new menu item, and one of us (me) received a very large portion of fat on our braised short rib. Additionally, food was Luke warm at best.
I never ever left my plate with any food left. For the first time, my partner had to switch out his braised beef on his plate for mine. We mentioned this to one of our three servers who were taking care of us. The response from our server was he told the chef and the chef would take it into consideration.
Now, the verbal acknowledgment was appreciated, but we received a bill at full price. Each plate was $46, not including our drinks. For us, this is not a bad price. But to not offer anything for the inconsistency in plates that were the exact same was disappointing.
I'm trying to tread very lightly here as i absolutely love this place. But with the price point being on the higher side, I hope that these concerns don't fall on deaf ears. Their are people out here who can't afford to eat out as often as we do and come here for special occasions that they probably hope to be treated as such.
The food has been great rarely inconsistent, but service could be better for some servers. I've worked as a server in Washington DC's expensive resteraunts while active duty in the military. On the east coast, we made nothing close to the hourly wage CA servers earn.
The food and atmosphere already speak for itself and deserve the support through tips and large bills, but please put a little more effort or standardization into customer service during busier hours.
At the end of the day, I'm someone who's considerate of the cost and wanted to highlight the possibility of inconsistent service for the price point.
Otherwise, check out the pictures. This place is worth the drive if you live deep by the temecula wineries
Like I said, we will drive the distance because 8 times out of 10, the food...
Read moreWhile on my search for new foodie adventures, I came across @savagechefbarandgrill in Menifee! It was an experience that had @figgy_fab and I thoroughly surprised. The environment was very chill. With the food of a fancy top notch Steakhouse, and cocktail/music lounge (mixture of hip hop, pop and other music), the combination leaves you trying to figure out where you are but at the same time not wanting to leave this semi-futuristic restaurant.

But enough of jibber jabber, to the lineup!
Butternut Squash Arancinis: Crispy Butternut squash risotto, truffle aioli, Crispy sage. First of all anything with aioli is great but this appetizer was a pleasant surprise! Flavorful, light and fluffy on the inside and that ever so slight crunch on the outside! 3 was not enough haha! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cavatelli Mac N Cheese: Shishito peppers, parmesan, and toasted breadcrumbs. Not what we were expecting! Nevertheless, the flavors were good and the shishito peppers gave it a slight kick! 🔥🔥🔥
Red Wine Braised Beef Short Rib: Creamy parmesan polenta, roasted parsnips and baby carrots, za'atar, and gremolata. I'm not really sure what the last 2 things are but all I know is that this dish was great! The short ribs were perfectly cooked and the layers of the dish collided and exploded with a flavor palette that I was not ready for. Most definitely could eaten another one or two! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Scratch-made banana pudding: Nilla wafers, fresh bananas, burnt meringue. From flavorful to sweet, the dessert was an interesting mix. A surprising twist was the white chocolate chips, making it an even sweeter treat for taste buds. Normally I don't eat bananas but they were overpowered by the pudding taste, which is totally ok with me! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@savagechefbarandgrill Was a great place to have dinner! We were expecting something different and got hit with something better. Definitely have to go back and try other items! 9/10 is the rating and I'm stickin to it! Until next time my foodie friends, stay happy...

I wanted to try something new today with my girlfriend and this place had good reviews near the area. Pictures of the food looked great, but it was terrible once we got home. I went inside for a pickup, and went to the counter. They told me go to the bar for order pickup’s. No problem, I go to a part of the bar where there’s normal seating because it looked like a pickup area. The bartender is on the other side serving drinks, I figured he would come over and see what my pickup was. Nope, he’s just standing there asking me across the room what my name is for the pickup. It’s super loud in there and hard to hear, I said it twice and I could tell he couldn’t hear me because he made a face with the middle aged single ladies he was serving. At this point I go up to him and show him what my order is and he goes “ah” and has someone else checking in on the order. The other guy, told me it’ll be a few minutes. So I’m waiting by the bar, and this lady with a gray bun rudely tells me I’m in the way and if I could move cause this is where they get drinks. LOL, I get it but there’s literally no room for me to wait this place is tiny. At this point I just go up front and wait by the counter. Few minutes pass, and this guy wearing a white vest (?) I think was telling me it’ll be out soon - he was nice. I got my order and left, got home and wondered why I drove to Menifee for this. Most of the workers in this place are pretentious and have their nose up like they’re doing something. This is a dive bar between a smoke shop and Ross - let’s be honest. When you look at the menu, you’d think this is some fancy upscale “Hell’s Kitchen” type of spot. You get there and reality hits - I just blew $60 on food that’s the same level as Chili’s. Yardhouse food and service blows this place out of the water. Will never go again and will let everyone know to avoid...
