The service here was friendly and the beer was good, but the food needs some attention. I ordered the turkey pesto panini, and it had a very distinct rancid oil smell and taste. You know, the musty, stale-nut flavor you get when oil has been sitting out for months too long. It was strong enough that I got sick afterward, and I don’t usually have a sensitive stomach. Rancid oil also has a pretty unmistakable smell in a kitchen, so it was surprising to taste it so clearly in the food. The kitchen obviously knows if they're sending food out that smells and tastes like that.
I called afterward just to let a manager know so they could check the oil. The manager was polite but didn’t seem surprised and didn't say they would be doing that. I got the feel that that wasn't the first time they'd heard that though? And I didn’t hear anything further.
I'd give a place like this another try if it seemed like they were just having a bad day or had someone new in the kitchen. But it takes a long time for peanut oil (my guess) to turn rancid. That combined with the non-surprised sort of nonchalant response to calling about it tells me that this is probably going to be an issue with other food items.
Between the $16 sandwich, a beer, and tip, my lunch was around $40, so it was a bummer to end up getting sick from expired...
Read moreI want to start off by giving praise to the staff, our waitress was very attentive despite us coming in during a rush. We were seated within 10 minutes without a reservation. Unfortunately, the food here is very overpriced for it being not good or mid at best. Which I should’ve known since learning this establishment is Iowa based.. The spinach artichoke dip is a small portion and the bread & chips take up most of the basket. The taste of it is fine, but it should’ve at least given a bigger portion. I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was the WORST rendition of that dish i’ve ever tasted. The chicken was drenched in a hot sauce that was more about spice than flavor. Then it had this EXTREMELY mayo heavy coleslaw that just made the sandwich feel like I was eating hot sauce and mayonnaise out of the container. It didn’t balance the flavors of each other at all. I tried to remove as much as possible from the chicken, but even then that didn’t make it anymore appetizing. I will say the drinks here are made strong so you do get your moneys worth on those. I would only come here for drinks & to watch games...
Read moreWent to this new restaurant for weekend brunch. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet there is no parking outside. We went to the parking ramp behind and it was nearly full also. Once parked, you can't enter through the back, instead have to walk around the building to come in the front. Whoever designed parking for this new development - no idea what is going on. Not sure how it would work if there's actually a lot of customers.
We found the service lacking, in both attitude and attention. The server seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Coffee and waters were not refilled until we found the waitress and asked for more.
Our food was pretty bland (both meals), and it took a while to run down our server and ask for condiments (they aren't on the table). Hot sauce improved the flavors. The food was served very quickly to the table.
Its possible the business is still trying to fine tune things, but I won't plan on revisiting soon. I don't understand how they have so many five...
