Look before I was a Krispy Creme girl, I was Shipley's Donuts. They are not local, so trust and believe when I make a trip home, Shipley's here I come.
So, with that said, I went home and was treated to a treat of perfection. I still had by sugar craving, so off I go to my local Krispy Creme on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Merriam. Not only is the lobby locked and closed with 3 to 4 staff inside; with a sign on the door that said "CLOSED Do To Staff Shortage." Ok.... In the past, you have only had 3 to 4 people working. I digress. I get back in my car and get in the drive through line. Oh my good Lord. Almost 20 minutes in that line. I couldn't move forward and someone had pulled in behind me, so I couldn't back up. I get to the menu boad and mic finally. There is a huge sign advertising a dozen donuts for $9.99. Now, there was no qualifying info listed for the $9.99 price and also a specialty donut. You know there was a catch, there's always a catch. I was told that I had to buy a dozen at regular price, then I could purchase a 2nd dozen for $9.99. I say forget that. I state that I wanted 1 assorted dozed. I asked if the specialty donut can be included. I have never heard the word "huh" so many times. Nor have I heard over an over, "are both dozen going to be rhe same?" After firmly stating for the last time I only want 1 assorted dozen and I want included 2 of the specialty donuts. "We don't have any more of those." What it was like 330/430p. Huh!?! 😂 At this point I am thinking about pulling off like the car in front of me. I stay. The craving is strong. The "Hot Now"sign was on. I wait. Extremely frustrated. The person at the window was not friendly and truly got thrown when I asked for a cup of water. Jeez! I finally get my donuts. I asked specifically if the regular donuts are 'Hot Now', I was told yes. I pull off. I can't wait to dig in. I grab a plain donut, bit into it..... oh my goodness.... it tasted lighe pure stale grease. I like, Ewwwww, this can't be right. I take another bite. I brought them home. NO ONE. I repeat NO ONE would eat them!!!! I lost $20. I threw them in the trash. There was llike no bread, just nasty, stale, old oil.
I don't know if you are understaffed, however, it is the quality of the food. Taste. Texture. These things matter, and above all, customer service, i think you all have forgotten the principles of business. I won't be...
Read moreI stopped at this Krispy Kreme at 6:30 am on May 5 to pick up four dozen donuts for my work. I live 45 miles from my job and this Krispy Kreme is 30 miles from my home on my way to my job. By the time I got there I had to use the restroom (morning coffee). I went up to the door and there was a sign on the door that said lobby open for online orders. When I went inside the manager asked me in a very sharp tone do you have an online order pick up? I told her I did not and immediately she stated I would have to go through the drive-through. I told her I needed to use the restroom and could I please do so? She stated yes and as I walked away to go to the restroom she turned to her employees and said, what is so hard about reading a sign on the door? I told her that I had to use the restroom and could not wait. When I came out I asked her what her name was. She would not respond to me. She finally looked at me and I asked her again for her name. She turned her back and would not respond. She then turned to me and stated there was a sign on the door and told me to leave the store. As I left the store she started yelling other things at me that I could not hear as was halfway out the door. I will never go back to the store again, my work will just have to do...
Read moreVERY LIMITED SELECTION. Asked about several kinds of doughnuts and were told that they just don’t carry them at all: No bearclaws, apple fritters, maple bars, cake/old fashioned doughnuts. (Except for a Blueberry cake doughnut, which was helpfully noted on the description sign as having “no real blueberries” in them.)
RANCID. Out of two raised doughnuts, both tasted of rancid oil. We threw them out instead of eating them. We did try the “non” blueberry Blueberry Doughnut, and it was awful. Tasted slightly of artificial blueberries, but mostly just of sugar.
COLD COFFEE. Coffee was barely warm- such a disappointment when one of the best things to go with a doughnut is a steaming cup of hot coffee. Forget that.
No, we did not complain, as we were on our way to an appointment. However, we will not be back. Anyone, or any establishment, can have a bad day. This, however, was beyond that. Serious quality control issues, and an established selection of limited kinds of doughnuts. Even the raised doughnuts, had they not been rancid, weren’t at all like the KK doughnuts I had years ago: Ethereal pillows of flavorful goodness. These were...
