I've been here many times over the years and the food was always good and the atmosphere was good and so was the service. Today I felt like we got steaks that would make Ruth's Chris steakhouse blush. The New York State really was center stage. Had a charred smoky flavor, with just the right amount of seasoning. There was so much juiciness that had formed a pool around the steak. The chew was perfect. What was also an added bonus was the fat would melt in my mouth and had char on the outside of it...it was incredible... I usually dont eat any of the fat. I'm over 50 and it's probably one of the best steaks I've had in my life... We also ordered a filet mignon, and it had a char that was like a crust that formed top and bottom locking in incredible flavor. The center was very juicy and was one of the best tasting filets. The sides are always great especially those carrots. The bread pudding literally is the best out of all the places I've ever had bread pudding. The sauce on it is incredible with some raisins and big plump blackberries on top. Along with a fancy set of mint leaves. I was full but I knew that I couldn't go home without splitting the bread pudding with my family. Service here is always great as they never stay away long and they always have people looking around trying to get you a drink before it hits bottom and get you whatever you need in a timely manner. Another words this place is great... Like I said I've been coming here for years and it looks like that trend isn't going...

Hubby and I came here for a late lunch today. The building doesn’t look like much from the outside. We’ve driven by Charleston’s many times, but never thought anything of it, but the reviews were very positive so we thought we’d give it a try. They are wheelchair friendly. I made reservations and showed up early, but didn’t have to wait. Food is so good. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. Our waitress (Hilary) was great. The reviews raved about the dynamite shrimp starter. We ordered it after being informed there was no pineapple in the sauce. They taste like honey walnut prawns with a slight kick to it. So yummy! Hubby loved the slaw underneath the shrimp so he ate all that too. He ordered the fish special, Swordfish, and loved it. I ordered the ribs because the reviews raved about it. Without the BBQ sauce the ribs were good, but with the BBQ sauce (no pineapple in it) they were great. The sweet carrots were delicious. The key lime pie for dessert lived up to the rave reviews. I ordered the enchilada stack to go, but had to try a bite so I could review it. Absolutely lived up to the rave reviews. Hilary was attentive without hovering and brought water refills and my root beer refill fast without us having to ask and before the previous glass was empty. We will be going back so I can try the French dip and the pork chops and whatever else...

I would give this review zero stars but at least the croissants were good. I ordered the meat loaf with mashed potatoes and I was so in shock when it came out I was left speechless. I have never seen meat loaf that so closely resembled head cheese that I literally lost my appetite. I don't know what that was but it looked like all the left over's from the previous night were mixed together with something that resembled beef and they threw some gravy on top of it. The potatoes were not mashed, more chunked potatoes is what I would call it. Our server, Matt, asked how our meals were and I shared my thoughts and he said, and I can't make this up, "probably try our steaks on your next visit" and walked off. I wanted to speak with a manager but he was engulfed in a conversation with a couple of young ladies that had come in and was more interested in flirting with them than he was managing the restaurant. The ladies that seated us were very nice and interacted with us politely and when I asked to speak to a manager she looked at him and said, "he seems to be busy right now". This was our first time going to a Charleston's and it was definitely our last. When we can walk in on a Saturday night at 7:00p and immediately get sat while there is a 1:30 wait at the Texas Roadhouse next door, you may want to reassess your style of doing business or find a...

Amazing dining experience from start to finish. Every staff person we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Our waiter, Jake, was excellent and knew the menu thoroughly. the atmosphere has a chic, upscale vibe, yet remains comfortable and cozy. All six of us at our table were extremely pleased with our dinners and the dessert. They knew which plate went to each guest, and didn’t have to “auction off” each plate (“I’ve got a hamburger, who had the hamburger? One hamburger??”) Also, they watched us cut into our steaks to ensure we were satisfied with the level of doneness I had the shrimp scampi and the sirloin steak(split each dish with my wife) The shrimp scampi was bright, fresh, and delicate. a full zesty flavor encapsulated the whole dish, the angel pasta was excellent, and the buttered bread on the side was delicious. The sirloin steak was cooked perfectly, full of flavor and wonderfully tender. Finally, to top it all off, the whole table shared three desserts, all of which were excellent. The bread pudding was rich and sweet. The carrot cake had a full texture and the perfect cream cheese frosting, and finally the chocolate cake had a delicate sweetness. All in all, this was a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a wonderful experience.

We’ve been loyal guests of Charleston’s in Mesa for over six years and have been dining at Charleston’s locations since the Ray Road & I-10 days back in 2008–2009. This restaurant has been our favorite Sunday spot for years—but mainly because of one person: James. James has been the heart of our experience here. He’s the only reason we’ve continued coming back week after week. We always asked to be seated in his section, and more than once, we’ve waited over 45 minutes just to make sure we could enjoy dinner with him as our server. That’s how much of a difference he made. Unfortunately, we were shocked and deeply disappointed to learn that James was let go. Without him, Charleston’s just isn’t the same. We’re heartbroken—not just for ourselves as long-time guests, but for the team that lost someone who truly understood service and built real relationships with his guests. We’ll be keeping an eye out for where James goes next, because wherever he ends up, that’s where we’ll be dining. Until then, it’s goodbye to what used to be our favorite place. Best of luck, James—you’ve got fans for life. And Charleston’s? You just lost one. Picture attached shows how empty it is. It will probably only get worse as more and more loyal guests find out.
