I had stopped go to chilis for quite a while I was noticing a drastic decline in the quality of the food. I was in the mood for something fast but good so figured I'd give it another try. This experience was not it. The restaurant was very obviously understaffed and disorganized and it showed. They told me the wait was going to be about 20 minutes which was fair although there were several tables open. There were several people waiting before my party and several of them got to aggravated with the long wait they left even people who had used to app ahead to time to reserve a table. About 30ish minutes late my party got called to be seated which was weird because there was at least one other party there that stayed that was there before my party and still hadn't been seated. Thankfully we said something they were told by the hostess that they cancelled their place in line which obviously wasn't true because they were still waiting to be seated. My table and I did wait long than expected to recieve our food which we didn't mind much because it was busy but the disappointing part was that when our food did finally get to our table my food was stone cold and my guests food was piping hot. It was very obvious that my food had been done for quite a while and it was left out waiting for my guests food to get done. I didn't send my food back for fear of how long I'd have to wait to get so I ate a few cold bites and took the rest home to mircorwave at a later time. On top of it all I expected better overall quality seeing how the prices of all the menu items have increased but the restaurant fell short and I was definitely disappointed with the quality to price comparison of both the food and experience that I had recieved. Very...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Chilis as a simple date night. We generally have great service and good food/prices at Chilis but this visit I also got a story! Our waitress, Jill, was a rockstar. I know everywhere is understaffed at the moment and with all the tables she had she was doing great in her section. The manager was the one to drop off our food and afterwards my margarita (the LAST item to make it to the table). I asked when he dropped of the food for utensils as we had nothing to eat our meal with. I asked again when the drink was dropped off and wasn't even acknowledged. I tried again when he visited the next table. It wasn't until ten minutes later that Jill returned to us and we explained that we were still waiting to get to eat. At this point the food was cold and needed to be re-fired. The manager came out a short while later, apologized, and immediately blamed the waitress!!! Said she wouldn't get any more tables for the night because obviously her work was suffering. I explained it was HIM I spoke to about the utensils and he responded that "he's very busy." I asked his name and he responded that it was Joe. We then saw him speaking to our waitress and making some serious hand gestures. When our waitress returned I apologized and told her that I hope she didn't get in trouble from Joe for what he did. She looked at me puzzled, looked at the manager, and said, "His name is Nick." Not only is he subpar and abusive at his job, but it turns out Joe/Nick is a coward. Jill our waitress was fantastic. Joe/Nick/Whatever his name is... Truthfully I don't know how someone that cares so little for his staff is a manager. His actions were just pathetic...
Read moreThis review is about our most recent visit to this particular Chili's on Stapley Dr, not necessarily a general opinion of all Chili's everywhere.
There were a few couples standing around outside (where there are NO benches!) so we knew there'd be a wait before we ever walked in. What we didn't expect is to be lied to about it. There were a LOT of empty tables on a Friday night, so we assumed maybe someone had called out and they were down a server. We like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
They said it would be 15 to 20 minutes. Okay, great. Except that 20 minutes came and went twice before we finally asked to be seated at one of the many empty tables.
The food was fine. Nothing about it made me want to take a picture. The service was just barely okay--nice people, but slow. We never got beverage refills, so that was lame. The kiosks weren't working with codes, but the manager was able to plug in our free chips & salsa, so that was good.
It was family date night and we had a fine time together, which is really why we went out anyway. We chose Chili's that night and made the best of it. The extreme slowness did put a damper on our evening at first, but once we were fed, we could relax and have fun. Dinner service should not take two hours, though.
I said at the beginning that this review was only about this one visit, but thinking about most of our trips to Chili's, in Arizona, Utah, California, Texas, and Florida...yeah, there always seems to be something that would lead me to a 3-star review. We still go though. Chili's is a decent place. Sometimes better, sometimes not. Oh well....
