This was our first time eating Venezuelan food and holy cow was it amazing!! I freaking love food,I love different flavors so we aren't really afraid to try new and different things. Que Chevere has been on my list of restaurants to try for a few months and last night we decided to make the trip out there from southeast Gilbert. It was so flavorful! So I don't like bananas and I don't remember ever having plantains, but they look the same so I was a bit skeptical on a few on the menu items. We ended up getting the sampler to start the fancy mozerella sticks and empanadas were fantastic! I think I could just drink that green dipping sauce. Speaking of drinks we tried this sugarcane type lemonaid. I don't think it's on the menu but it was so delicious, I've never tried anything like it. The husband got the Aprepa Pabellon. He loved it- I had a bite and it my food wasn't just equally fantastic I would have eaten more of his. I ordered the Que Chevere Patacon. When I read the description I almost talked myself out of it - fried plantains instead of bread? But wow did it work. The flavors are something out of this world! Our friends had the Que Chevere Pepito and the Pabellon Criollo. I definitely ate a good amount of that Pepito! I don't know what they marinate their meats in, or what kind of sauces they put on that but they should keep on doing it and not change a thing! We ordered the chicha for dessert and honestly it wasn't for me. Think thick horchata. Anyways everyone came home with leftovers, the food was amazing and I'm sure I'll be thinking about that...
Read moreQue Chevere is TheBombDotCom! We had a petty issue with another restaurant across the street from Que Chevere. The issue was that I had planned a surprise birthday celebration for my wife and even though I did the right thing and called the other restaurant ahead of time to make sure of things like as to whether or not I needed to make a reservation because of our large group and whatnot? However, when my family and friends that got to this restaurant early to prepare for my wife's surprise birthday celebration were told by the manager on duty that we couldn't have and/or bring the birthday cake that we had with us, to which I have never heard of this being an issue at any other establishment/restaurant before. So even though my wife was so happy at being surprised, she was also extremely disappointed and so we left that restaurant and came to Que Chevere where we were welcomed and, more importantly, they took care of us! Including holding my wife's birthday cake in their refrigerator and then even providing us with extra plates, forks, napkins, and a knife to cut the cake with. The entire staff at Que Chevere was AWESOME! They truly saved the day and made my wife's birthday extra special and we all had a great time! Thank You Everyone at...
Read moreThis was my very first time trying an arepa, and I honestly don’t think I could have picked a better place to experience it. From the moment I walked in, the warm and welcoming energy of the space stood out. It didn’t feel like just another restaurant—it felt more like being invited into someone’s home. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and what really struck me was the genuine connection they seemed to have with the customers. You could hear people laughing, chatting comfortably with the employees, almost like they were longtime friends. That kind of atmosphere is rare and instantly made the experience even more enjoyable.
As for the food—absolutely delicious. The arepa was perfectly made, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, packed with flavor and generous fillings. I also ordered a couple of side dishes, and everything was not only tasty but clearly made with care. The portions were more than satisfying, and you really get great value for the price.
The location is also a plus—right in the heart of downtown, making it an ideal stop whether you’re exploring the area or looking for a casual, feel-good meal. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving something new...
