Very astonished. As a NYC restaurateur, (own 2 restaurants), I have a critical eye and taste for hospitality. However, what I experienced at Dolce Italian was blatant ignorance, racism, and as a result bad service. My wife and I arrived earlier this morning for breakfast. Hostess greeted us reluctantly and expressing she had a sole table available near the hostess podium. I didn’t think much of it and were seated. After being seated I asked her if there was soemthing wrong with the table she offered as her last available. She replied “no, just want you to know that is all we have available”. About 5 minutes later a party of 2 walked up to hostess stand and perused menu as to see if they were interested. They happen to be a middle age white couple, which she gladly sat comfortably inside the establishment. They did not have reservations since she told them she would need to see what she had available. I was close enough to confirm this to be true. After waiting about 10 minutes our waiters finally came by table. His name was Amos, I know this because I asked for his name not because he introduced himself. His introduction to us was “folks if you are ready to order, I am ready to take it” that was it. Just a tad brash.
Our coffee and mochachino arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. He was kind enough to make my wife a mochachino, although, he suggested they did not make it there. Not sure if true or not. After he brought coffees out, we waited about 10 minutes for sweeteners to arrive and they didn’t. At this point my wife flagged down hostess, who replied by making eye contact with her and then looking away.
At this point we did what we have never done in a restaurant. Just stood up and left.

Read moreWe came from out of town to celebrate in our daughter’s graduation from College. We put it in the notes when we made the reservation thinking that perhaps they would acknowledge the importance of that day. Well that didn’t happen. Then the waitress asked us if we had any allergies which I stated I had shellfish, treenuts and sea salt allergies. The chef wouldn’t make any accommodations for me so I basically had two pieces of bread because that was the only thing that didn’t have sea salt. The other pieces of bread they had contained sea salt. Afterwards the manager comes over to see how everything is and we explain that it’s rather hot inside and all he said was thank you for the feedback and the rest of the evening was just downhill. On the other side of us they were having a staff meeting that I was unaware took place while guests where seated within the vicinity of where this was taking place and it really took away entirely from why we were there to begin with, because we could hear the manager speaking to their employees. I would imagine that these staff meetings should take place in the back of the restaurant or at the minimum before the restaurant opens for guests. Also,If you run an establishment and a patron comes in and tells you their allergies it should be your responsibility to make accommodations for them and make sure that they also can enjoy their evening. Would have been sufficient enough if they said they didn’t have anything I would have left and gone somewhere else to enjoy a meal with a restaurant that cared more. I left there with not being able to eat and an outrageous bill. Needless to say will never be going again and I don’t recommend this place to anyone unless you’re looking for mediocre service and very limited...
Read moreI would NEVER return to this establishment. Service is better at a McDonald's than this place. Where do I start???? Let's start with the cocktails: my wife's drink was overflowing and mine was half full (I guess that's how they cut down on costs when a drink is ordered neat). We then asked our server to split our salad when we placed our order and he confirmed that he would do so. Keep in mind that the server reiterated that I wanted it split. Well, that never happened. Fortunately, we had our bread plates on the table so we utilized those since new plates never were provided. The Gem salad (oxymoron) was totally meh, nothing special whatsoever - taste or appearance was on par with a salad you make at home. I also informed our server that I wanted to purchase a glass of wine with dinner. Mind you, he was so clueless that despite finishing my cocktail, placing the wine list squarely near the edge of the table, having empty wine glasses on our table (for decoration, I guess) and finishing most of my dinner, he finally asked if I wanted a glass of wine. He must have walked past our table no less a dozen times. Our entrees were equally as meh with the tomato sauce tasting like Chef Boyardee. Our water glasses were never refilled and our server did not ask how our food was (or about ordering wine) until we were almost completely finished our dinners. Needless to say, we will not return to this place. Do not go here for fine dining! That's not in...
