I'd like to put 1.5 stars if possible, but I guess Google Maps doesn't do that. We had picked Kimpton because we had our wedding night at the Kimpton in DC and thought it would be appropriate to come here for a 10th anniversary getaway. Initially we were slated to come in at Thursday noon but had to move to a later flight at 6 landing at around midnight because of a sick child. As our delayed flight kept getting pushed back, we kept checking in with the front desk at the Surfcomber to make sure that our room wasn't given away. They assured us that they were holding it and it would be okay. We called a few times just in case. Our flight landed at 3 and we made it to the hotel around 340 AM. When we came up to the front desk we had asked if we could check into a room. The woman at the front desk said that the system was turning over and will have to wait another 30 minutes or so before we could check in. She said she tried to wait for us, but it was no use. She made a face like it was our fault. I didn't mean to have our flight pushed back so much, that's why we checked in so often by phone. she even told us that people had told her that we were coming. At this point we were too tired to argue. When we finally got up to the room at around 4: 20 we saw the bottle of wine sitting in the melted ice and 3 melted strawberries. At this point we were wondering if they had the foresight to get our room ready with this spread, why would not have been possible to set aside two room keys just so we can get in and sleep already? The next day we made the best of it and got out of the room after getting a few hours of sleep. The people running the bikes were very nice and helpful. We got back around 1 and checked to see if our room had been cleaned but it hadn't been. We got some clothes and went to the pool. When we got back at around 3: 10, the room still wasn't cleaned. I ended up talking to one of the staff members in the hallway asking if they can finally take a look. At that point she talked to one of the cleaning staff and said we could come back in a little bit. When we checked in later the bed had been made and the old towels have been taken away. Unfortunately there were no new towels, bars of soap or shampoo. We had to ask them for some new towels, and they got us the full-size ones. when we asked about face towels they said they ran out. Some of the staff were really nice (Dionne at front desk, and our surfer friend manning the bikes), but we talked to a few people that were slightly hostile and dismissive. This definitely put a damper on our first Miami trip, especially for our anniversary.

Well, it wasn’t great. From the top, we arrived at the hotel around 3 pm hoping we would get lucky with an early check in. Hotel clearly states check in is at 4pm. We were told the room wouldn’t be ready till 4. Ok understandable. We waited. 15min, 30 mins , 1 hour. It’s no 5 and still no room cleaned and available. I asked to speak to the manager who politely offers me a king bed room same size as my reservation but with a city view. I accept. Big mistake. The room faces collins ave. Across from bars, restaurants, and a very busy street with lots of traffic. I quickly realized this would be a mistake. If you’re a light sleeper this will keep you up. After 1 sleepless night I decided to ask the manager if we could get our original reserved room which was a courtyard king room. I’m told they are all reserved and won’t have any available. I ask if there’s anything else I could get instead and am told multiple times there nothing else. I didn’t believe the hotel was fully booked as it was mid February and not many guest around. I decided to check the hotels website to find 4 rooms on the ocean side were available. I confront the manager and staff about this and after some back and fourth they decided to offer me the room but just for 1 night. My final night I would need to move into the original court yard room that I requested. This ocean room should have been offered to me when I originally requested a new room and was told nothing was available. We move into the ocean room and it’s night and day compared to street view. The next day around 12 management texts me saying our courtyard room is now available to move into. How convenient. Let me just stop my beach vacation and go move rooms again! Finally in the courtyard room. Safe to say I swaw 2/3 of the rooms offered at this hotel. Otherwise the hotel lobby is nice. Has a very chic Miami pallet. You can tell like Many of the Miami hotels on south beach, it’s been around for a while. Rooms and lobby were clean. Furniture was showing some real damage on corners in the room. Pool area and beach access are excellent. Hotel location is very convenient for walking distance. Staff was overall friendly but a bit slow. Our room was not cleaned our first night. And when we called down to at least get clean towels it took over an hour. Staff on the beach arranging day beds were very friendly and brought us extra beach towels Valet is pricy but normal for south beach. Just be prepared to wait 15-20 mins for your car. Overall not too bad but I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

I don’t like to write long, bad reviews, but this was too bad of an experience not to document to others. If anything less than 1 star was available, this hotel would deserve that.

Horrible experience with this hotel from beginning to end. On the first day, we asked for a good view, if possible and the receptionist said she’s going to give us a better room than what we were initially supposed to get. Excited, we went into the room and realized that the so-called “better view” opened up to a closet inside the hotel and didn’t have an outdoor view at all. Instead of the two queen beds as requested, this “better room” was two doubles. This room also had a very strong weed smell. This started to give me and my friend a headache so we requested a different room. Knowing that we didn’t get the “better room” as we were told, we requested the initial room that we had booked before the front desk “upgraded” us. She told us that that room is completely booked. We don’t know if she gave us a worse room because they were overbooked or because nobody refuses to go into a room that smelt like marijuana. The people that checked in before us also had issues with their booking as the hotel overbooked so we assumed this room change had to do with the hotel overbooking. Regardless, we didn’t care about the view or size of beds at this point so we just asked for any room with two beds that didn’t smell.

We got a room and they said that since our trip is longer than a day, they can give us a better room the next day. We agreed and asked them when the next room would be available. The front desk told us that they’ll give us a text and we can move our stuff. We didn’t want to wait around all day until it was ready so my friend and I went to have lunch. We came back to our room after an hour (still no text), and found out that all our stuff was missing.

We quickly went to front desk and they told us that the cleaners moved our stuff into the new room… We were really upset at this point, because not only did we not get a text or call letting us know that the new room is ready, they also moved our stuff without our permission. Keeping in mind, that as two females, we felt very uncomfortable that our belongings were “put into” our open suitcases since we didn’t put it away ourselves because we didn’t know they would move everything for us.

On top of our personal belongings being touched, we did a quick check to see if anything was missing, and it turned out that my expensive skincare bottles were missing. This was very disappointing as someone with a very particular routine, I have very sensitive skin and cannot risk using other brands. The front desk told us that the cleaners probably thought it wasn’t something to move into the other room so they threw it out while cleaning.

Well knowing this, the hotel didn’t do anything to make things better. They told me that they’ll refund me the amount for my skincare items, which they happened to never do, but also just the idea of my personal belongings being tampered with was very unsettling.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as the service is unbelievably bad and your sense of safety will be...

Five Star Experience from warm welcome to fond farewell.

What a great experience for my daughter’s 18 th birthday and two of her friends.

I want to apologize for not catching names of employees.

When we arrived bellhop was there to greet us with a smile and take our luggage to front desk. The check in was smooth, the front office staff was very friendly and offered us a complimentary drink that came with our booking . We arrived early and were lucky enough to have our rooms ready (it was a weekday), Right away the bellhop took our luggage to our beautifully remodeled rooms. (Don’t look at old photos). The rooms were modern and updated and pretty big compared to other South Beach hotels . Beds were very comfortable, AC worked great, and the rain shower was extra bonus.

Once we settled in we ran to the pool. Right away the pool help set us up with chair towels and pool towels. Sunscreen was available as well. The vibe was very chill with chill house music in the background, clean pool and just beautiful landscaping. It’s everything you want a pool to be in South Beach.

We had to check out the beach . Right away the beach help set us up with beach chairs and towels and server was ready to take our drink and food order. The beach is beautiful with aqua blue water and long sand beach. We loved the breeze as it was very hot day. Ionic lifeguard stand was right there.

We were hungry so decided to eat at the pool. The bartender was very friendly and made delicious/pretty adult beverages. Food was wonderful, girls had burgers I had mahi tacos. All very yummy . Average prices for south beach.

Complimentary happy hour was a bonus with wine choices and small bites.

Valet was very helpful with getting us Uber rides and always opening the doors.

Bonus for hotel, right across the street there are wonderful restaurants, we liked the Taco place, liquor stores and everything you wanted is within two blocks, including Walgreens.

We were sad to leave after two days. Unfortunately our flight was not till later so a VERY nice man stored our luggage and we used the pool till it was time to leave for the airport. He also helped us get luggage to the Uber. Bring lots of cash too tip, we ran out and only could tip $2!

In summary. The hotel staff was one of the friendliest staff I have encountered in a long time. The property is updated and beautiful. Location is perfect, walk every where. Highly recommend. Wish we would have included breakfast with our booking .

Wish we had time to congratulate management...
