I generally donât bother to write reviews but this is really important for the safety of anyone visiting this place. We went there on 5th Feb 2024 to pick up some breakfast and coffee before leaving for the airport. We were 6 people and we ordered a lot of food and coffee. We picked up almost all bakery items so that we get to taste different things. We even got 6 coffees according to each one of our choices. The coffee was pathetically made, there was no coffee in it and the milk tasted weird. Letâs come to the food. We brought back the food to our airbnb and very happily started to eat. One of my friends tasted something weird in her croissant and when she opened it, to her shock there was ominous amount of mold/fungus (please see pictures for reference) inside it. She vomited as soon she realized what it was. After that everyone checked their food and we found little mold in few other stuff as well. We went back to them expecting at least an apology if not a refund. But they were so rude to us. They were giving lame answers and did not sound apologetic about it at all. They in fact went as far as saying that all items were freshly baked. None of us after seeing that mold in the food felt like eating anything throughout the day. In fact my friend got a bad food poisoning. All of us were feeling uncomfortable throughout our flight back home that evening. We did not expect a full refund or the items to be given again (would never eat anything from that place obviously) but at least if the servers were a little kinder in handling this situation, I wouldnât be informing the world about this in...
Read moreThis quaint little coffee shop with its friendly staff has quickly become a favorite place of mine to sit and read my book on saturday mornings. They have a delicious salmon and cream cheese bagel, loaded with capers, red onions and a slice of tomato as well. Very, very delicious. The hummus was soft, silky, freshly made that day and served with plenty of piping hot pita bread wedges to dip into the generous bowl of hummus.
But my all-time favorite has got to be the coffee! On the same level as Horton's coffee in Canada and the espresso they have is definitely on the same level as the best italian espresso you can possibly imagine.
The espresso is rich and bold in flavor, just a tinge of sweetness to go with the deliciously heavy bitterness that all true espresso-lovers value.
The ice-coffee is amazing. Some places, it tastes watery, but not at Grand Cafe. Here, it is rich, smooth and almost as strong as an espresso. Have it black, or have it with a shot of whole milk, and it becomes a whole other layer of wonderful.
The cafe itself is bright, naturally lit by the Floridian sun shining through the large windows. Softly twirling fans keep the room airy, and the seating is comfortable inside or outside. The ambience is very peaceful and gentle.
Whether you live here or you are visiting and want a great coffee before a day of sightseeing the city, I can only recommend you start your day the right way, with an espresso and a bagel...
Read moreI used to love coming to this coffee shop back when it was under different ownership/management, but my experience today was extremely disappointing.
When I approached the cashier, he didnât acknowledge me or even say hello. I had to greet him first, and his response was a weak, unenthusiastic âhelloâ that felt dismissive and unwelcoming. That alone was off-putting, but unfortunately, the experience only got worse.
While I stepped away to the restroom, my sister told me that another staff member dropped our coffee on the counter without a word, and the lid wasnât even on properly â it spilled all over the counter. When she said âthank you,â the employee just mumbled a half-hearted âyouâre welcomeâ and walked off. The complete lack of basic courtesy and professionalism was disappointing .
Even more troubling, both my sister and I left feeling like we were being profiled because of our skin color. As former waitresses, we both understand what good customer service should look like and we always tip generously. But this was the first time I felt so disrespected that I did not leave a tip.
Sadly, I will not be returning. What was once a welcoming place has become unprofessional, unwelcoming, and disappointing. The $8...
