Really bad experience! I wanted to feel like the $24.99 deal for an appetizer, entree, dessert was a good deal. But after I ordered, the chef sent out a different appetizer (a small arugula salad) because they ran out of the one ordered (fresh beet salad). It was only 4pm and they could have asked me what I’d prefer instead. But I started eating the substitute arugula not wanting to complain. The lunch entree was really small. I mean, not a dinner sized plate. It was maybe 3 ounces of uncooked salmon. Not to be considered a dinner. Then the dessert apology came next. Turns out that what I ordered wasn’t ready yet so a few small biscotti cookies from a package were brought out. I mean, come on. I don’t get what I order. And I don’t get a descent substitute. How can you bring out a few dry mini biscotti with no coffee. And shouldn’t this be better than a few mini biscotti from a package when you don’t have 2 of the 3 items ordered. So I ordered a coffee to have with the cookies and paid my bill. Someone forgot to bring milk for the coffee. I had it black. It came to about $38 with mandatory tip. I was hoping they would comp my coffee or something but that didn’t happen. Bottom line is that I felt that if they had tried to make this up to me somehow I would go back and try them again. But screw ups seem routine and part of the way they run it. This experience left me flat. The server was very lovely but this was not a good experience overall that would have me return. It’s hard to rate the food but it was a small portion by any standard. I decided I can’t go back. Also the music was loud. It’s hard to complain about the food when you’re waiting for more food. Unless you’re willing to take the risk of ticking off the manager or cook. “You didn’t have the appetizer or dessert that I ordered. Your check gave me arugula and cookies without offering anything better or even giving me a choice. Your portions are small. You don’t have bread. You didn’t bring milk for the coffee. And you’re adding a mandatory tip like I should be happy. Thanks.” Basically don’t get lured in from the guy who works there about how it’s a good deal or the rating on google. I’m not seeing this be rated so high when they screw it up so bad and offer no choices or anything. These places lure you in off the sidewalk (literally) and they are not that good. Despite the 4.8 star...
Read moreDuring my first day of vacation in Miami, I decided to have lunch at Ocean Enoteca e Forno. Finding the place was a bit challenging as the restaurant lacked clear signage, which seems to be a common issue in Miami.
Once inside, I found a cozy spot with a fresh juice making and drink station. We started with drinks: a Virgin Pina Colada, a regular Pina Colada, and fresh pineapple juice. The drinks were fantastic. The pina coladas were perfectly balanced, combining sweetness and fruitiness. The fresh pineapple juice, made right in front of me with no added ingredients, was exceptionally refreshing.
For the appetizer, we ordered the Fritto Misto (Fried Calamari). It was well-seasoned and fried to perfection. The accompanying sauce was unique and delightful. The dish included fried shrimp, an uncommon but welcome addition that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Our entrees included the Grande Bellisimo Burger, the Crispy Spicy Calabrian Sandwich, and the Grilled Chicken Florentina. The burger, made with a massive, handmade patty, was seasoned well but it was cooked to well done despite our request for medium. However, the Calabrian chicken sandwich was excellent, with a pleasant hint of spice and sublime bread along with the chicken adequately seasoned, making it my favorite dish. The Grilled Chicken Florentina was disappointing; the spinach was slimy, and the overall flavor was lacking, resulting in us discarding half of the sandwich.
To finish, I had a Cortado. The coffee was solid, and the barista's latte art added a nice touch. Mariely, our waitress, was sweet, attentive, and a pleasure to talk to, enhancing the overall experience.
Overall, my experience at Ocean Enoteca e Forno was pretty good. The highs included excellent drinks, a standout chicken sandwich, and wonderful service, but these were tempered by some disappointing aspects of the meal and the awkward review solicitation(Seems to be a common...
Read moreI have never had better Italian food. This place was the experience of a lifetime. I am not the foodie, my wife is. I usually let her order for me because there are 2 items she wants to try. So she ordered the fettuccine alfredo romano for her and bucatini cacio e pepe for me. OMG!!!! I finally experienced my wife's love for food. I was reluctant to switch plates halfway through but both were perfect. My son ordered pizza and the super pleasant waitresses Federica invited him to the kitchen to prepare it himself. My son loved it. We saw a plate of bruschetta going to another table and I had to order it. Everything was delicious. My desert was a cannoli and assorted cookies. It was so fresh Frederica prepared the canoli at the table. This was the best Italian meal I have ever had and Frederica made it a memerable experience. The chef came out to the table and I see why this place is so good. Every one here was so humble, polite and appreciative. If was more like visiting family then a dinner out. Don't take my word for it,go try it. My 6yr old said "it was the best experience of my life" and I agree. It's Italy in...
