I like subway in general, I appreciate their food. However, this place needs some improvement. Tomatoes were very green and inedible (even though it’s season). But the biggest issue is some of the staff. The first time I went it went all smoothly, but the second time there was a blonde young man who was very bad at his job. I almost wanted to jump over and do the sandwiches myself. He was very slow and very messy, and the lady that was with him couldn’t handle all herself. She had to fix his subs and take payment. I felt sorry for her, but the kid hardly had a will to live so he wasn’t taking her advice. Today I went again, and there was a woman who asked me for my mask as soon as I came in. I realised I forgotten it, but I am vaccinated. Either way, I would completely understand mask requirements. The ridiculous thing is that she was not wearing her mask!! She was enforcing the mask without using one herself while she was standing in front of the food. In fact, every time I have visited none of the staff were wearing a mask (they keep it under the shin) while handling food. Today neither her or the other girl at the store were wearing theirs but they were enforcing it on me. Another man behind me pointed to the hypocrisy but he asked for the food. However, the woman just stared at him and put her gloves with the slowest speed I’ve ever seen. Read moreI have to agree with other reviewers that this is easily the worst subway I have ever been to. I came here several times last week when I had family visiting just to grab something quick midday or something simple late night. The first evening, there was only one girl who was so rude and non communicative, and she shorted us meatballs on a sub that was split (7 instead of the usual 8). The following day was better, same meatball sub, same split, and all ok… but soooo slow. The following day, I waited so long that other people in line just dropped out and left. Two employees making minimal food, but I swear I had to have waited at least 20 min with only two people they actually served in front of me. My last and final visit has officially made this place one I will never return to. A young guy handled my food after handling money, no hand sanitizer and no gloves. It was pulling teeth to work with him just on getting the correct number of meatballs (shorted again) and he refused to put cheese or sauce on top. I think I was just in shock when I paid at how bad this place is - because I clearly shouldn’t have paid and just left. upon unwrapping the 12 inches of absolutely par food, I grasped the #23 Italiano in my eager hands and quickly inserted the soon-to-be-devoured sub into my mouth. it was gone within minutes. I only managed to take one single picture before I wolfed the rest of it down.
the staff were friendly. they spoke little English. I ordered just fine using the scraps of Spanish I learned in high school and by pointing at things behind the glass. what a truly human experience: two people, each of a different background and mother-tongue, united in a ballet of communication. two conscious beings collaborating to create one mediocre sandwich... how beautiful.
the atmosphere felt hard and artificial. it was lit with bright white lights that cast a cold hue. unwelcoming to the outside passerby, but quickly acclimated to once inside. this was contrasted against the unmistakable Subway-green accents. it is the ideal environment to enjoy a soulless yet perfectly OK sandwich.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
over-all I left satiated and feeling pleasant. absolutely a 5 stars Subway experience. I'd give it 5.2 or maybe even 5.3 if I could.
