Don't go to this hotel if you need a quiet environment to rest!
We stayed here for two nights and paid $468.54. They were checked in the room next to the elevator to us. We asked if we could change the room immediately because we were concerned about the noise of the elevator. Still, the front desk said it was fully booked. So only the room they gave us and the opposite remained; both were near the elevator. So we had to take the room which was next to the elevator. But after a while, we found that we kept hearing the pretty noisy sounds, not sure if that was from the elevator or the machines outside. So we called the front desk again and requested to change the room, but they said there was no room left. It turns out we couldn't sleep at all the whole night, and it ultimately affected our meetings and work the next day.
The following day around 9-10 am, I went to the front desk and asked to change the room again. They told me to come back after 11 am, the checkout time. So I waited until about noon and went to the front desk. They told me there was no room ready yet, and said they would call my phone number when there's a room available to change, or I could come back after 3 pm and see if there is room to check-in. So I wasted the whole morning and just kept waiting in the room. During that time, I couldn't sleep due to the noises, couldn't work because I was so tired, or couldn't go out to grab something to eat, because I was afraid that I couldn't get changed our room if I didn't keep pushing them. Finally, around 1 pm, I was too hungry and wanted to go out for lunch. So I asked the front desk again (the 3rd time on that day), and then the receptionist called their manager, told her that I wanted to change room, and they discussed a while, and he gave me a room to check-in. After changing the room, most of the noises were gone, but we still could hear the sounds when the elevator arrived. I think AC Hotel Miami Beach has poor soundproof.
AC Hotel Miami Beach said they removed our first night's Guest Amenity fee ($25). They think we moved rooms the next day when available so that there will be no further compensation. The truth is, the payment didn't remove on the receipt, and they didn't provide us the movement when available. I saw many people were checking out/in during the three times I went to the front desk. They didn't call me back when available. My husband and I didn't sleep the whole night. We couldn't concentrate on work and activities the next day due to the previous night's lack of sleep. I'm a loyalty Marriot Gold Elite member, so disappointed with the AC Hotel Miami Beach. I don't think they provide the services...
Read moreWe were supposed to stay here for only two nights after our cruise before heading to Orlando for Epcot & Universal but decided to stay in Miami for another three nights for several reasons. 1) I was not looking forward to the four hour drive. 2) I didn't want to deal with summer crowds and kids with their whiney parents. 3) Entry tickets were selling for $125 (back in 2018) not including Fast/Express passes which would've tacked on another $140. For the two of us for two days meant $1,000+. No!
LOCATION: Quiet area, zero nightlife, close to Miami Beach. Triton Liquor & Market was diagonally across the street and convenient for in-room snack & beverages. Want a cheap, quick bite to eat? Subway and Starbucks were your only options. Want a plethora of restaurants and bars to choose from? They're all located a mile or more south or over the bridge, unfortunately, and Uber is quite pricey in Miami.
ATMOSPHERE: As we pulled into what looked like a parking garage, I was surprised to see that this was the front entrance. Zero ambiance! A bellman wheeled out an airport-style luggage cart which we pushed to the room ourselves.
LOBBY: There was an obnoxious scent in the lobby, akin to an old man wearing too much cologne. Couldn't figure out where it came from or why it's even needed. A small breakfast room, lounge and bar (Gin & Collins) were attached with a Starbucks just outside.
CHECK IN: Ashley was welcoming, friendly and informative.
ROOM: Very modern in design with laminate floors, floor-to-ceiling windows with blackout curtains, and bedside outlets/USB ports. The a/c could not get below 75° during the day and 72° at night. The modernism theme resulted in a lack of clothing storage with absolutely no drawers, so living out of your suitcase was the only option. TV had a handful of channels.
BATHROOM: If you've dreamt of showering or sitting on the throne with a view, look no further. Fret not as the floor-to-ceiling windows have shades. No tub is available but the shower featured a hand-held and overhead shower heads. Water pressure and drainage were good.
AMENITIES: Mini fridge replenished daily with bottled water (though the seals were always broken which made me think twice about sanitary conditions), strong WiFi (4 device max), coffee, iron & board, hair dryer, safe.
ROOFTOP POOL: The place looked like a hurricane hit it. Towels strewn everywhere, spilled drinks, food on the floor. Disgusting. Otherwise, a nice sized pool with lounges and tables.
OVERALL: Five nights was way too much to spend in Miami as there really wasn't much to do in the area. The hotel was clean and comfortable but man, Miami Beach...
Read moreMessage light on phone was flashing. We were unable to retrieve it. There were no printed directions of any kind to do so. Service person came in to help us. He was unable to do so as well. 2) I found myself locked in the bathroom with a door that would not open. I went into the bathroom with the service person. He was unable to open it on the first few tries. Finally did so on his knees working it from the bottom.
Safe failed to work according to directions. I followed directions to RESET. Each time it said OPEN. I decided not to use it.
I came out of shower. Discovered a service person on the other side of the transluscent door. He was fully dressed. I was not.
5)Transluscent door not a good idea for that reason or for using a bathroom in the middle of the night when a second person in the room (like husband who wants to sleep).
6)In case of transluscent door, a dimmer on the light switch would be a good idea for night time use, as in previous hotel we stayed in.
7)Front desk thoughtfully called to offer to move us because of recalcitrant bathroom door. Alas, they called 7 minutes before we were to attend the party that we were in town to attend being held on the hotel rooftop. However, it was a very nice gesture. We agreed to move after attending the party.
8)The staff was very kind to assure us that this new room had been checked out very carefully. We were grateful and trusting. At 11:00 upon retiring, we looked around for the blanket/pillow case package that we had found on a high shelf in the previous room. Alas, the shelf was empty and we had to call for a blanket.
If you decide to use our experience as a basis for an ongoing TV comic series, please consider compensating us and giving us some inspirational credit. After all, we really did have these experiences.
Your staff was not too blame. The engineer was very helpful, patient, and eager to correct the situations. The front desk was very friendly and tried to be helpful as well, suggesting the room change. The problems seemed to be poor management and lack...
