OK so 1. This is not in the hotel. This is not beach front. This is the tiny place on the street.
The food is horrific!!!!!! Unless they knew we were from out of town and they gave us near to rotten and poorly cooked food,.... Do not eat here. I don't know why it has 4.2 stars. I am an honest person giving an honest review and not a bot jacking up the stars. I came here BECAUSE of the star rating hoping to get a good breakfast / brunch with my family.
So here's the story. Stars were good. Said beachfront. Walked in, no beach access.they said Google has info mixed up (wondered why they hadn't corrected it yet 🤷🏽♀️ but now I know why... It gives the business they don't deserve). Walked to the hotel that is associated with address, process are $50+ per person, walked back, figured the stars might mean something. Ordered.
We ordered the breakfast with baby steak 🤣🤣 and their lunch that's in the pik with what looks like Caribbean river n peas (aka beans iykyk).
the food took forever to come and we were with a child so was not good. the orange juice (freshly squeezed they said) was THE ONLY GOOD THING HERE. Food finally came. My eggs that I asked to be over hard came runny. They took them back n brought me the same damn eggs recooked (found it strange cos I'm used to getting new eggs when the restaurant f's up). They were still tasteless. Bacon was bad but my 5yr old that just lives for bacon ate it. The steak was like eating chalk or cardboard. No salt. Looked like it had been boiled. Smelled funny. Very very bad. Sausages were ok. Not pleasant but not terrible either. The ham was like no deli meat before. Tasteless. It came with pancakes and they were different but airtight. My daughter ate them. Needles to say I left most of the food on the plate. It was like I ordered just to give them free money. Oh n I had fries but they tasted microwaved. Didn't eat them. And after 12 the meal doesn't include coffee or tea which would have been the highlight. Cos how can u screw it up right? Oh and the Cuban toast tasted like it was going bad. They said that's all they had. (I wonder why..... Hmmm... Maybe cos they were trying to get rid of the stock left?)
Then my husband's food. Vaca frita. He ordered a lunch item that's the first picture on the right side of the menu. The rice n beans were the best thing on his plate and even they weren't so great. The flank steak was disgusting. N no I'm not exaggerating. Everything else was terrible. He left it on the plate too.
Top it off with an automatic 18% gratuity on the bill. I was furious! I believe if they didn't put it their workers wouldn't get any money cos the service was meh and the food was terrible. The juice was the inly good thing. We looked at others eating and were trying to figure out how these guys keep the lights on.
So either they serve visitors rotten food or the people that come here have no taste buds. 🙆🏾♀️🤷🏽♀️. But this version of Latin food was a disgrace to all the Latin food restaurants. I wanted to dash cos there was no dining to speak of. I left as hungry as I came. So ended up deciding to eat over priced food at the Fontainebleu that was ultimately worth it after this experience. Jesus!!!!
People, tourists, visitors BEWARE. Spent about $30 per head and was very very...
Read moreThis place was a major disappointment. After reading the reviews, I was hoping for a nice restaurant with decent food and reasonable prices; what I found was ok food, mixed service, and an $88.72 bill for 4 people. That's $22 per meal at a strip mall restaurant with plastic plates!
The service was mixed; two women served us; one was nice, and the other could care less. I was satisfied with the decent food, and the one good waitress, and was even going to convince my wife to come back for breakfast, but then the bill came, and I found all the hidden fees we never told about.
We ordered a seafood paella that was listed as $12.99 on the menu, but then we were charged $18.70, because it was a "special." I didn't order the special, I ordered the seafood paella listed on the menu.
I asked for two waters with no ice, and they give you bottles of water with no warning that they cost $1.50. I just wanted glasses of tap water, so I returned one bottle, as the other was already open.
They do have large portions, and we asked for two boxes to go, and they charged us for that too, without notice before we already put our food into the boxes.
And lastly, for any purchase over $10, they automatically include a 15% gratuity fee, listed in Spanish as "propina."
If they were more transparent about their prices, more honest, and made it clear to us that gratuity would be automatically included, I would have had fair warning, and would not have been upset and probably would have come again, but because of their lack of transparency and honesty, I'll never come back, and recommend no one else does either.
I felt like I paid 88 bucks for Taco Bell. Take your money somewhere...
Read moreWe were on vacation at a resort down the road from here. We tried all kinds of places but this by far way my ABSOLUTE favorite! 💯 I loved it so much I had to eat there twice and passed up other places! The first night we tried it we made it in 10 minutes before they closed since it was such short notice we just took our food back to the resort so that they wouldn't have to stay longer. The second time we tried it I wanted to make sure we got the full experience. We sat down had 2 waiters who were hands down amazing and made the experience worth it, very personable and joked around with us. I think I was embarrassing my company because the food was so delicious I was making all sorts of noises while eating ha ha! The younger gentleman was telling us how to cook some of the things, so I am for sure going to try my hand at the plantains! The older gentleman was making us laugh and was giggling at me for all my noises I was making. The restaurant itself was smaller but made it feel more intimate and had a home feel to it. The prices were the best I found and again for the food worth every penny, just saying if they could overnight food to me OMG I would eat there probably every other day.
Thanks everyone at Tropical Beach hope to see you soon!
P.S. If you ever open other places PLEASE come to...
