IT HURTS MY HEART TO WRITE THIS REVIEW AS I EXPECTED A LOT FOR THE MENU PRICES AND LOCATION!
I brought my bf/sister who was in from out of town here with huge expectations. While we were sitting there waiting for our food, I saw them walk by with some amazing milkshakes and I said to my friend “wow, if the food is anything like those milkshakes look, we are in for a treat.” Boy was I wrong! The place gets 1 star because it looks very cool on the inside and a second star because our server was amazing but that is where it ends. I used a Groupon that I got for $48 for $100 worth of food and guess what, I got $48 worth of food.
My friend ordered the steak fajitas and the tortillas tasted weird, the refried (canned) beans were beyond dry and so was the rice. All in all, she was very put off with the dish and didn't even finish it. Even with her that I’ve know since we were 10, I was very embarrassed because I don’t see her often and I wanted to make this something special, again…big disappointment.
I ordered the salmon plater with mashed potatoes and mushrooms as my sides, and I requested a lobster tail as well. It’s pretty hard to mess up mashed potatoes and mushroom and they were fine…JUST BASICALLY FINE, same thing with the lobster tail. The salmon was a piece of cardboard that was so dry, it got stuck in my throat and the only thing that made it edible was the melted butter that I requested for the lobster. This was subpar diner food at best and had I not gotten this on a Groupon, I would have sent it all back and walked out. I expressed all this to the server when he asked "how was everything?" who again, was amazing and he addressed it with the manager and they comped us two desserts. My friend got a brownie with ice cream which she totally loved and I got a tiny, TINY (when I mean TINY, I MEAN TINY!!!) sliver of cheese cake that was good but had it not been comped, it would have cost me $9!
There was money that was left on my Groupon, so I decided to take something home for my husband and was afraid to order anything because what we got was so bad, so I got him a club sandwich with fries. I mean really, how can you f@#$ up a club sandwich, well they did. I don’t know how or what they added to the club sandwich to screw it up, but it tasted way off.
This place has been opened for 3 months and unless they either reduce their prices to diner prices or improve their food to be up to par to their current prices, I don’t see how this place will survive. There are way to many other amazing places on the beach to spend your money and get amazing food like the Big Pink (boy do I wish we would have gone there). AVOID THIS ONE LIKE...
Read moreIF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0, I WOULD. super unprofessional and bad ambience. To start off, we went in for their limited Christmas menu. My husband and I were on the hunt for restaurants with Christmas vibes. We decided to try sugar factory out. As soon as we sat down, we started realizing we were about to have a bad dining experience but still gave it a shot. It took the server 30 minutes to greet us, not only did she take long but she did not even greet us the proper way. She started us off with “ y’all know what y’all want?” No name or nothing. Such a disgusting way to speak to a customer who was about to spend a lot of money in this restaurant. After she took our order, my husband received his Christmas drink with it looking NOTHING like how it was on the Christmas menu. I had to get up and ask the bartender to garnish it as so, because that is what we came here for after all. I ordered a hot chocolate, it took my hot chocolate 30 minutes to hit the table. When it did, it was COLD. A cold hot chocolate is what I received, not only was it cold but didn’t look like the picture as well. Didn’t bring the candy canes, or the Christmas tree decorations which again IS WHAT I CAME HERE FOR. At this point I was so dissapointed. I called multiple servers over to call the manager over because my server was nowhere to be found. After 30 minutes of waiting for a manager, he comes out and avoids our table. Where I then waved him down and he looked at me and gave me the hand basically saying to wait. RUDE. The managers name was JOSE. While waiting for the manager to come by on his sweet time, the food got to our table. Of course it put the cherry on top of our dishing experience, because it came out COLD. Everything was just distasteful, cold, and dissapointing. I couldn’t believe this is the same sugar factory that has all the hype and fame. After all of this, the manager FINALLY comes over saying “okay okay guys I’m here” I go on to explain what was going on, and he did not even apologize, all he said was “ok do you guys want me to make everything over?” You can tell he didn’t have no type of expertise in being a manager of a restaurant. We were not going to wait 2 MORE HOURS FOR THEM TO REMAKE EVERYTHING. After being there for 2 hours already, our appetite had left and we left the restaurant dissapointed and hungry. Manager did not care to offer us to come back another time and make it up or atleast apologized. Sugar factory will never see me or my husbands face again. The best part is me and my husband are very popular at making tiktok videos of food and new restaurants to try and we took a video of everything and will be giving this the...
Read moreFirst time visitors. We wont be going again. I will adress the ATMOSPHERE, COST, & SERVICE. ATMOSPHERE: Lets start with what appeared to be the OWNER. PROs: He was engaged (but too engaged) and cared about how the night was going for the customers. CONs: He looked out of place wearing baggy sweat pants and a sports hoodie (maybe a baseball cap too). We witnessed agressive behavior towards the staff and we could hear and see clearly the times he was berating them about one thing or another. Disapointed in the the look of this place. It's small, cramped, and underwhelming. We left wishing we had gone to the Delray location. Because it was raining, outside tables were brought inside which made the inside too crowded. One outdoor table was even placed in the hallway outside of the dining and guests had to stand up to allow traffic to walk by. Because it was outdoor furniture, the table was worn and wobbly. To the owners credit, he saw this and we were moved to the dinning area. However, another family was seated there afterwards. Overall, it was hectic, cramped and uncomfortable. If you were sitting deep inside the dinning area it's probably less noticeable, but on the outskirts it was bad. COST: Far too expensive for the food quality and wait times. Its not bad food, it's just not good enough for the cost. Drinks are expensive- a small glass of soda is $5 and they limit you to 1 refill. The soda was extra sweet and flat. There must be an issue with the dispenser, or they poured our drinks and it sat out for a while, getting watered down before reaching our table. The lemonade was wattered down and my child didnt drink it. On your bill, expect a 20% service charge (does not include a tip for your waitress), 3% credit card processing fee. They pass this charge onto the customers so the resturant doesn't have to pay it. On our receipt we were charged a 9% "state tax"?? I have to check, but i believe in miami it should be no higher than 7%. If that's the case I may report them. SERVICE: The staff appeared to care about the customers and they were friendly. We enjoyed our waitress but rarely saw her because of how hectic it was. Food took a long time to be served, about an hour after we ordered and our appetizer came at the same time as our main course. Obviously the timing in the kitchen was off, which you could tell by the staff. This may tie back to the owners involvement/distraction. Overall, it's not run well. When your bill comes out to $200 for four people, you expect a well run establishment with a comfortable atmosphere.
