I visited with my best friend today around 3:30. The museum itself is great and not the reason for the poor review. The security is. After seeing other pictures of people laying on the bed, I thought it was okay. One side of the bed isn't tapered off. There was no sign saying that we could not be on the bed. Security comes in telling us that we have to go. When puzzled and asking what the problem is, he starts yelling and cursing at us saying "fck it"" and "get the fk out". After about a minute or two, he literally puts his hands on my best friend to force us out. She had to tell him to get his hands off of her and tried yet again to reason with him and tell him that there was no reason for him to come at us yelling and cursing like he'd already been having a bad day. After a few minutes he just yelled "f**k it" and left us alone. I understand that we were wrong but that's no way to treat customers, especially since we tried to explain that there are pictures of other people doing it and weren't aware that it was off limits in the first place. I have pictures of the bed missing its "do not touch" sign and not being completely tapered off but don't know how to post them...
Read moreReally cool collection! The front desk employee was super helpful and thorough.. There were three different collections when we visited. They seemed rather random in relation to each other but all were really interesting and we definitely enjoyed the experience. One of my favorite pieces was the phallic sculpture that was in A Clockwork Orange film! The only off putting thing was that there was a private security room upstairs in the midst of the collections. An employee in the room was blasting music extremely loud and also singing along with it super loud and crazy. It was pretty strange and did interfere with the atmosphere of enjoying the collections. The price of admission is $20/person, which I feel is a little steep for the type of collections they had. But I do understand that museums are not huge money makers and I'm sure they are even more challenged with pandemic so we were fine to pay that much. It's also pretty cool that you're allowed to take photos in the museum...
Read moreI read the other reviews and was excited to go but I was extremely disappointed when I went. The guy at the desk tried charging me more than what online had said but thankfully he honored the online price. The first floor did not have anything really and he said the exhibit was on the second floor along with another exhibit. I went to the second floor and the place smelled like a wet basement. There was some cool art (just look at the online photos and that's basically the only exciting stuff to see) and each room had different genres of erotic stuff. Yet more than half of the second floor was dedicated to this other non-erotic exhibit which was all photographs of random objects or people. I was pissed at my experience overall. This should've only been a $10 charge that comes with an apology not a $30 charge. Hopefully the new Sex Museum that is coming in February 2024 makes up for this...
