My Wife booked a 3 night stay expecting it to be a quiet getaway near restaurants and other entertainment. It was our anniversary so we wanted to get away a while . She booked directly on the hotels site. When we arrived the area looked perfect and walking up to the hotel it looked like just what we were looking for. When we got to the entrance we found the place was closed for remodel . The website mentioned nothing about this. There was a small sign stating that guests that booked there would be accommodated at another of there properties. There was a number to call for any questions . I called and after a phone bank it went to a voicemail . By the way my call was never returned. The property that they transferred us to was in South Beach the road in front of the hotel was blocked off because of an event of some type. I specifically didn’t want to be in South beach because my party days are long over and we both wanted a nice quiet getaway. We choose to give it a try and it was a mistake. Of course we were right by the elevator. When we got back to our hotel that Evening the party was in full swing. I might as well have been in our room. Between the people yelling and cussing as they came off the elevator and the club music until 5 am we were over it. We are leaving here as soon as the sun is up and likely going to have to forfeit the money laid out on the next 2 nights. So thanks a lot for the classic bait and switch. I may as well have stayed home and lit my money on fire to...
Read moreLocation: walking distance to everything. Bikes available, included in your resort fee. Major restaurant/bar action less than a block away. Interesting watering holes within 5 min walk: Havana 1957 & Repour.
Price: I paid $150 on HT, which didn't include the resort fee or taxes.
Fitness: gym at sister Hotel Victor was fairly decent. I was able to get most of what I need done. Most of the time it's not busy before 10 am.
Airport/transportation: bus #150 runs on Washington and takes you from/to the airport. Fare is $2.65, as of April 2016. Takes about the same amount of time as SuperShuttle but one eighth of the cost. Save your mula and blow it on booze.
Room comfort: room was spacious and clean. Big bed and nice TV. That being said, • windows have seen better days • thin walls so you can hear what your neighbors are doing • as other reviewers have noted, floors have tiles, not carpeted. Ask for top floor if you don't like people walking over your head or dragging chairs around. I stayed in room #305, a corner unit. • TV was set on the side wall so it's at an angle. Probably use satellite so the image was rather grainy. • in some rooms, AC blew air directly to the opposing wall, where the headboard was. I got a running nose from all that cold air when I was sleeping.
Lastly, the 'free' breakfast was rather thin, leaves more to be desired. The hard boil eggs were slightly under.
Overall, a pleasant stay, despite if a...
Read moreCute out of the way at the end of the super Eurocharming Española way. Close to the bustle and fun of all the restaurants and far enough away from the noise. Which is good because there is no restaurant in the hostel-like hotel. Odd design: Tiny (ridiculously tiny and almost useless) closets, ultra modern bath sink with too short faucets so always spilling water out. Bathroom fan an assault on the ears. Odd service: A. installed curtains in my room during a day I was out working. Not just on the windows but floor to ceiling along 2 whole walls of the room even covering artwork. ???. It was a bizarre unannounced change mid-stay and completely obliterated the charming character that had not been designed out already. B. Valet is with the street association not the hotel and they do not usually work overnight between 11 pm and 8 am. GOOD service: They rely on sister property hotel Victor for maintenance so when my smoke alarm would not stop chirping indicating a dying battery, the kind front desk clerk came and helped take it down so I could get to sleep. Very nice and friendly...
