I wish I could give 0 stars!!! I had a weird encounter with a gentlemen on Saturday (May 13, 2023) around 4pm. Me and my sister went and grabbed some pizza before our next adventure thinking we’ll get a quick bite and be on our way. Unfortunately, that’s not how it went down. I ordered just 1 slice of cheese pizza order number 129 and my sister ordered the same thing order number 130. Being that they had pizza already out and ready and that we only ordered one slice, we waited on the other side where the condiments were thinking we’ll receive. When we didn’t, my sister chose to have a seat at the outside sitting area and I stood by the restaurant to make sure I will hear our number. As we were waiting, we noticed people walking up wanting 1 slice of pizza and they were getting theirs right away! At first we didn’t pay it no mind until we noticed people were ordering the same kind of pizza and received theirs instantly and it kept happening! So we realized…. he singled us out for one apparent reason. Lots of people walked in after us and ordered the same exact thing and received theirs instantly why couldn’t we ? It was even one point where the shop was empty and neither the gentleman or woman gave us an update or anything. The man actually made eye contact with me and continued doing whatever he was doing…. UNREAL!! We finally went to the register after waiting for 30 mins for 1 slice that was already made. This man lies to our face and tells us he called our number. Excuse me ??! I told him that isn’t true! I couldn’t believe he just lied like that. He was very arrogant! He laughed like it was funny! It wasn’t nice at all! People should NOT be discriminated because of the color of their skin! We are ALL people! This is the type of people you guys have working for your company! He was working on Saturday around 3-4pm in the front of the restaurant taking orders alongside a lady. He was extremely rude & We did NOT...
Read more#1 Pizza in Miami. This is a traditional thin crust, hot oven, charred bottom slice / pie. The sauce is mildly flavored with hints of oregano and basil. It is corrected properly which means the acidity is well balanced. Ben's pizza tastes 100 times more authentic than all the other downtown pizza locations I attempted to eat at.
The cheese is well balanced on this slice. They opted not to add too much cheese which was brilliant vs.their competitors. This prevents the pizza from collapsing under when lifting it up. The crust actually cracks when folded in half to eat it NYC style. Nothing like the sound of a well made crust crackling under your finder tips.
Ben's Pizza gets an A+ rating for Miami! This is the top of the line for all of Florida's pizza offerings I have tried so far in this past year.
I lived in Brooklyn for 15 years and was raised eating the Bronx's finest pizza as a child. I have eaten at the best of the best of them. Totonno's (my favorite in the USA), L&B Spumoni Gardens, Di Fara's (rated #1 in the world many times over), Lombardi's (first pizza place in NYC), John's, etc.
After moving to Miami, I was unable to find a Pizza place to eat at that I enjoyed. That search ended here at Ben's Pizza.
Ben's Pizza is not on the level of the aforementioned iconic pizza spots listed above. Without NYC water, it is nearly impossible to replicate the consistency and taste of any dough based products (pizza, bagels, bread, etc).
However, it is leaps and bounds beyond the other options in the downtown area. This is my new go to spot when I want a true slice of pizza.
Best of all, Ben's Pizza just opened. It has that fresh, new, clean feeling to it.
The service personal are ultra friendly and accommodating. The other Pizza spots I tried in the downtown area offer hostile service combined with horrible pizza and outlandish prices too boot.
I say fuggetaboutit and make your way to Ben's Pizza for an...
Read moreI was looking for pizza near the Bayfront Park area, and my friend recommended Bens Pizza.
Bens Pizza is a casual spot right with waterfront views. I first ordered the veggie slice, complete with zucchini, yellow and red bell peppers, and eggplant. Truthfully, I was not expecting much because of the proximity to all the tourist spots.
I was surprised at the great quality and went back for seconds: a classic cheese slice. But here's the breakdown:
I thought the toppings were distributed well. It was just the right amount - but I did wish the eggplant was a little more fresh. It was dry.
The cheese is a very thin layer, as well as the sauce. I love a saucy pizza, but I understand the light sauce is a compromise in order to make the thin crust possible.
The highlight of Bens Pizza is definitely the crust. It's carefully calculated to be thin, fold with ease, and yet has that nice crunch to it in the right spots. See photo and you'll know what I mean. Great ode to New York style pizza.
Pricing seems what you would expect to pay because of the proximity to the waterfront/ action. The slices are big - they cut mine into two smaller slices. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Miami!...
