We spent the late afternoon there last Saturday. Initially for a few drinks with a view to possibly eating there. From the outset we could see that our bar lady, Emily, was rushed off her feet and a bit stressed. But coping admirably. She was keeping 5 staff serving the restaurant happy on her own, while also coping with a full bar. It would appear there may have been some disagreement with the manager (we didn't catch his name but think it might be Giovanni) before our arrival. At some stage, Emily looked close to tears, but kept it together and carried on regardless. We both agreed (40 years experience in the sector) she was doing an amazing job despite being up against it. Meanwhile, in the restaurant, tables remained uncleared, people were left waiting at the door, all this with 5 staff and one manager against one person in the bar. The manager was mainly swanning about, doing as little as possible and ignoring her calls for assistance. When he did turn up in the bar, he seemed to be in the way of everything (it looked on purpose) and managed to spill red wine everywhere after filling up just one small jug. Following the shenanigans was far more entertaining than any sports on the multiple tv sets. All we can say is that Emily was the only person who actually did any real work and she should be employee of the year, let alone the month. On top of which, she should be promoted to manager and the current one downgraded as low as possible. He's not up to the job and I am wondering how he ever got there. Well done Emily, we've never seen anybody work so hard and with so much...

During our stay at the hotel, we dined at the restaurant twice: once for dinner last night and again for lunch today. The food is okay—not remarkable, but decent enough for a hotel setting.
However, our experience was significantly marred by the unpleasant demeanor of the bartender who served us this afternoon (August 2nd, 1pm). Despite her ability to craft a great old fashioned, her attitude was anything but welcoming.
Today, while enjoying lunch and a few drinks, we attempted to engage in some light conversation with her, asking about the area since we were visiting. Her response was incredibly dismissive, treating us as if we were a burden. Her sour attitude was particularly striking given how polite and courteous we were. The restaurant was nearly empty, so it wasn't a matter of being overwhelmed with customers.
The two of us in our party couldn't help but exchange the simultaneously remark of, "Jeez, she’s super friendly, huh?" Her complete lack of ability in being courteous and polite made what could have been an enjoyable experience quite off-putting.
In summary, while the food is decent, the bartender's unwelcoming attitude leaves much to be desired. Maybe she was having an off-day, who knows, but we won’t be returning during the rest of our stay...
Read moreDisappointing! Waste of money, and time. We went here as we were staying in the hotel. What an awful night. Server was mostly absent, brought the wrong food, could not have been bothered less. it was as though we were in their way and a nuisance. The burger was raw. Food was totally undercooked. TVs everywhere and the sound very loud, with bright lights to ruin all atmosphere. Kills all conversation. Just horrible. Lacks a friendly atmosphere. Not at all like a quality hotel bar/eatery. It was like sitting in a loud train station or student cafeteria. We couldn't wait to leave. We actually took our uneaten food with us, and threw it away the moment we left. We saw others come in, buy drinks and go and sit in the brightly lit hotel foyer...even that was better than the bar. Speaking with other hotel guests they all said...you should have said you were thinking of going there we would have stopped you and recommended other places. That's not good for business. Families, professionals and couples stay at this hotel, please cater for them too - not just sports fanatics and rednecks. I would give 0...
