I’ve lived in Brickel for 14 years , I am a restaurant manager, worked in this industry for a very long time as well as my husband. I’ve heard about this place for a while, mostly good comments. We were walking our dog on that neighborhood then decided to try this place. When we walked in there was two severs in the restaurant, which is not too big, they did not have hostess service, which is fine with us. This place had one table occupied the rest was empty. First woman, didn’t even say hello to us, first thing out of her mouth was to point at a corner high top table(which I don’t really like) and say “that one there is available, I have the rest of the tables reserved” which to me was just not truth. Anyways we decided to sit at the high top and enjoy ourselves. Then the other sever, Zeida, approached us, very attentive at first until we started to place our order. She was overselling everything, and seamed annoyed that we’ve ordered just a couple of sushi rolls and two beers. After that we ordered two glasses of wine, the first one on the red wines by the glass( most inexpensive one) she came back with a bottle with a different name, we reminded her that it was a different wine. She said ok and came back with two glasses with red wine, we assumed it was our choice of wine, we drinked it and asked for the check, my husband was a bit annoyed at this point by the servers pushing her sales. Then she brings the check with a different wine than the one we ordered, I paid the bill with a 20% tip, before we realized, since it was not a big difference in price I was ok with it, but my husband was upset, when she came back he told her, you charged us the wrong wine, she said “oh, but I gave you a better wine, we said we didn’t want that one, and that she shouldn’t take that for herself to decide. After that she replied on very annoyed tone, “I’ll give you back your two dollars, WICH WAS SO DISRESPECTFUL. We enjoyed the food, but, unfortunately we will never go back and would NOT...
Read moreI had an unnecessarily horrible experience here. Look at my past reviews to see that I can give credit where it’s due, but here at Obba sushi I seriously think I had the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in my life.
We went in during lunch time, and asked if we were still in time for the lunch special at 2pm (on a Monday). So then we proceed to order FROM the lunch menu and pointed at an item from the lunch menu and just said the name of the plate.
The waitress then overcharges us at the END of the meal and counts it as dinner?? She didn’t bring us the miso soup it was supposed to come with either. And then makes a gigantic deal about us “not clearly specifying we wanted the lunch version”.
We even asked her if they’re prepared different in any way and she said no they weren’t. So what’s the point of her even harassing us over that? Such a weird experience. I’m convinced the waitress has some sort of problem or was having a bad day. She even slammed the water jug down out of anger over this.
She then held us hostage for about an hour “to wait for the manager.” And lecture us about how we should’ve specifically said “LUNCH version” even though we pointed right at it and said the exact title of the plate we ordered.
Super weird. I had to take the time to write this review cause it was just so upsetting and weird. The waitresses name was Rowena I believe. I really hope the restaurant owner sees this review in order to take action accordingly cause this restaurant seems like it could have potential. I had been excited to try a new restaurant in brickell. Such a weird an unnecessarily...
Read moreThe only reason why I’m not giving one star it’s because the food is great and I used to love going there, but all of that changed because of their poor manners and to say the least terrible costumer service. Me and my family ordered food online for pick up and we were waiting for two hours for it and so we got worried, once we called the lady says that it had been ready for hours and the manager didn’t know why we didn’t pick it up earlier. What’s funny about this is that on their website they don’t say when it’s gonna be ready, they don’t send a message or an email to notify their costumers of when the food is ready. They don’t bother to call , is one supposed to read their minds about when the food is ready???. This is a costumer service one would expect from poorer places but we are talking about what’s supposed to be one of the best places in town to eat. The lady on the phone just kept saying that she was busy and I was just asking her to remake one of the 6 things we ordered because it was supposed to be a warm roll (croccante roll) and we didn’t want it to be cold, instead of being helpful she rudely interrupted me and just said that I can cancel the order. Are you kidding me? We were waiting hours for this food, YOUR website is unclear and then you want to be rude to me and tell me to cancel an order that is going to make YOU profit ? I am a costumer! We ended up of course canceling the order because this behavior was so disgusting. Try not to make a place like THIS make profit, they’d rather throw away food then help...
