While visiting the city for a day my friends and I needed a place for dinner. Our initial plan was to dine at another restaurant in the area. However, as we pulled onto the street The Moon caught our attention. The outside of the building is stunning. They have painted the exterior pink and added 3 dimensional butterflies. It is very feminine.
We had several servers during our time at The Moon. They were very attentive. I was never without water in my glass and was constantly asked if I needed anything. We started our orders with drinks and appetizers. My 2 friends each ordered a cocktail that they both loved. I ordered the grilled octopus,($20- what I paid- $28 is now showing on website menu) and my friends ordered the Tuna Tartar ($20- what my friend paid $28 is now showing on website menu) and the tzatziki($14). I enjoyed the taste of my octopus. I did try the other appetizers and thought they were average at best. For our entrees we ordered the following: Whole Mediterranean Branzino ($48), Lamb Chops ($48- what was paid $68 is what is currently posted online) and Grilled Salmon ($36- currently not showing on the menu).
The food did take a while to come out. However, this was not an issue as I assumed everything was being made to order. My salmon came out first. It was a huge piece of salmon. Possibly the largest piece of salmon I have ever seen. It was served over a bed of spinach. It was cooked to perfection. Upon inserting my fork it flaked perfectly and was moist. The complaint, it did not taste like much. They could have seasoned it more. Next up, the lamb chops. Presentation was on point. They make for a great picture!! I did not try them, but my friend said they were cooked perfectly, but also lacked flavor. My other friends Branzino came out last. Our server did a cleaning of the fish to prepare it for her. I did try her Branzino. It was not the best Branzino I have had. We also ordered sides. Two of us ordered asparagus and one ordered the spinach. Each side is showing as $14 on their website, however, on the menu we had on 01/05/2021 the price was $12. The sides were underwhelming. The asparagus looked as if they were on steroids. They were the largest asparagus I have ever seen. The color was also unique. I have never seen asparagus that are more white than green. For the cost, I would think that they would be serving organic products, however, the menu does not indicate that they are.
After our dining experience the server came to our table with a bill that was not split. We indicated to him that we needed our bill to be separated. My friend who ordered the lamp cops paid first. When the server showed me my bill it was about $35 greater than what I had anticipated it being. I was told that the taxes and gratuity were included. I asked what the gratuity amount was as well as the tax rate for Miami. After calculating myself, it was still greater than my calculation. The math was simply not matching!! Lets do the math together. My order included the following: Grilled Octopus ($20) Grilled Salmon ($36) Asparagus ($12) Total before taxes and gratuity: $68. 8% tax: $5.44 18% gratuity: $12.24( NOTE-I would have left 20%) Total with taxes and gratuity: $85.68 The initial bill the server wanted me to pay was $120!!!!!!! I asked the server for an itemized bill. The bill he came back but still did not total what I calculated so I asked to speak with a manager. The manager did not come over, but he did get a lot closer to my number. The final bill included an additional Venue fee (5%=$3.44) and totaled $89.08. . I do not mind paying for items, but I also don't like being charged for things and not know what the associated charge is for. I would suggest that the company indicate on the menu all of the fees that will be included in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI originally booked a reservation for Valentineās Day, which is also my boyfriends birthday. When I arrived There was already a couple having a heated conversation with management. My boyfriend was still paying so I walked in. The lady manager told me I had to go back outside and wait. She never explained anything but had the security who does speak ANY ENGLISH lock me out. He then came back and told me to come in and the lady told me that they were booked. I explained to her I contacted them through text, email, and call to ask about the dress code and other things prior to coming. They didnāt give a courtesy call or anything. I understand overbooking but the General manager was EXTREMELY RUDE & disregarded the fact that I told him I reached out multiple times and that it was also my boyfriendās birthday. He then told me that the kitchen is completely booked up and there are no where to seat us. I told him I donāt mind doing drinks and appetizers but we had to be seated because itās my boyfriendās birthday and I tried to contact them. All the while Iām LOOKING AT 2 different spots with 2 EMPTY SEATS! After waiting 10 mins at the front entrance watching the show standing up, he returns and says he has a spot in the lounge. I asked him why are we going there, if We could sit at the empty seats. He tells me that he ādoesnāt need to give me an explanation on why we canāt sit at the empty table with 2 seats, and that we would go to the lounge and āIFā he finds space he will set up and move usā. So Now Iām currently sitting in the back lounge for 25 mins and NOONE has acknowledged us. I even went and stood against the wall to watch the show for a bit but the birthday boy was a bit aggravating at the fact that the wouldnāt let him inside to stand with me. He had to wait until they told me that he would sit us in the lounge. Terrible CUSTOMER SERVICE, Iām waiting to see who he sits at that table.
UPDATE 18mins later: First off, ALICE IS AMAZING!! She notice us at the lounge area without anything and asked about our situation. I explained it to her, She apologized for the inconvenience and was able to seat us at another table in the main room. She also provided my boyfriend and I with free bday drinks to apologize as well. So far the show has been WORTH THE TROUBLE that the general manager gave us. I would have regretted leaving and not experiencing this. The drink so far are great I ordered the passion fruit margarita and my boyfriend got a glass of champagne. I just ordered the octopus and my boyfriend ordered the grilled mixed grill (ALL CHICKEN) Iāll let...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur server Roberto was the best! He made sure my 30th birthday was executed perfectly at the Moon. My food was incredible. Yes it was pricy but itās ok we were celebrating a big milestone and was worth every penny for the taste and experience. I tried grilled octopus for the first time. It was so good! I also had the huge Maine lobster which my server came by and helped me remove the shell for me so I can eat it easier. It was so tasty and filling! The presentation was Instagram worthy. My man got the beautiful and tasty lamb chops. For desert they had the best home made baklava which is a sweet delicious middle eastern dessert. Iāve had baklava many times being I am Egyptian and Jordanian and they had the most authentic home made that tasted amazing! They sang happy birthday with sparklers and then brought me and all the other birthday girls up on stage to dance together. Thankfully I had a few drinks to get me up there otherwise I would have been shy lol. The first drink I told Roberto I typically enjoy sweet and vodka and he brought me the most tasty cute pictures worthy drink in a heart shaped glass. The second drink on the house for my birthday was a blue sparkly drink that looked and tasted so good too! The interior design of the place was definitely my aesthetic everything is pink and truly with chandeliers and right above is a roof top bar called astra that we went to afterwards. All of the staff there were so kind and accommodating, and the singers and dancers got personal came by the table to take photos with guests and sing and dance with them. I canāt say anything negative other than thereās alot of people in there and the place isnāt huge so of course it got a little hot in there. Definitely recommend this dinner and show to anyone for a special occasion! Something else I thought was sweet is they took a few pictures of my man and I together at the table and came minutes later to show us in nice picture frames for sale, I had to buy two out of the 5. We loved having the photos sitting in the frames with the cute decor on the table. We felt like royalty. It was so hard to pick I wanted them all lol. The singers and dancers were so talented and nice. We recorded our whole experience and posted our video on our show on YouTube called āThe Hill Fam Showā. We will be back and recommend...
