I am giving 5 stars because of my server Becca, please forgive me if I have the name wrong. I was in on Tuesday 11-13 around 1:30/2:00 pm and was seated in the bar area. I almost never came back to Chili's because of a very bad experience 3-4 years ago with my husband. However, I was craving a buffalo chicken salad with all the fixings including avocado. For those that don't know me, I'm allergic to dairy and can't have the blue cheese crumbles that come on the normal buffalo chicken strip salad. So instead, I asked for the Santa fe chicken crispers salad tweaked to include Buffalo tossed crispers. Last time I tried this they had a complete conniption fit so I assumed I'd have the same problem. My server said absolutely no problem. We'll make that for you right away, only taking about 7 minutes (the Santa fe salad comes with cilantro and avocado slices for more flavor when you can't do the dairy products). And let me tell you.. last time hubby's chicken was undercooked and mine was cooked to a crisp. Unchewable! This time it was perfect. Perfectly perfect. What a wonderful salad. And the classic Presidente margarita, seemingly neverending, was the perfect compliment. Thank you Chili's of Michigan City (extra compliments to my perfect, always right there, extra awesome server) for giving me exactly what I wanted on a day where I had a few extra minutes to myself! Super...
Read moreStarted out bad. hostess said no tables available anywhere but in bar..at 8 pm on a sunday. I could count 15 empty tables (and 5 more needing bussed) just from where I was standing. Finally got seated. Then the food ... I've been to chili's across the country but this one may have me going elsewhere from now on.
How hard is it to not overcook a steak? We ordered medium and both times they brought it out it was solid gray outside and inside. Even the waitress said "I know this doesn't look right" even before I cut into the steak. The waitress was good and friendly and did what she could.
The steak had passed well done by a dozen minutes at full heat. Also by time the replacement one came out my companion had finished her entire meal. The replacement steak was beyond well done also so I gave ip. Manager's explanation was " it takes a while to cook a steak to medium". Actually no it doesn't. Especially compared to cooking it to shoe leather. And then on top of it all the bill had both steaks on it. Manager really didn't seem to care and didn't know difference between a medium steak and shoe leather. Only concession was he took of my soda from the bill ( after I pointed out I was being charged double for the steaks they never did get right). Essentially I paid $20 for mashed potatoes and an...
Read moreI came here for happy hour on a Saturday (YES to hh specials on weekends) and had a great time.
Because my friends have raved about this place for a while, I came here with very high expectations. I wasn't completely blown away, but I definitely had an all around pleasant experience.
We ordered the squid salad, scallop special, fettuccini with clams, and of course, 6 oysters + hh drink ($12 for beer + $16 for wine) for the 3 of us. Our beer was not cold, and our oysters arrived AFTER our entrees. Annoying, but whatever. Thankfully, all of the food we had was GOOD. The seafood was all fresh, but nothing really stood out to me.
After our meal, the waiter brought us whiskey cakes and stout for the whole table for the oysters coming out so late. OMG the cake was so good. Much, much appreciated and all was forgiven.
Overall, a great place for happy hour & oysters, and a casual dinner with friends. Make sure to arrive promptly at 4:45pm before they open, otherwise you'll have to wait an hour or two. This place is tiny but...
