Bottom line: This may very well be the best hot chicken sandwich Iâve ever had!! Decided to try this place after craving some chicken. Went when they opened and received quick service from a pleasant staff. Ordered the âBig Classicâ chicken sandwich, once with the âTweenerâ heat level and once with the âhotâ heat level. First off, itâs a chicken thigh instead of a chicken breast which makes it so much more flavorful and juicy! It is also a good size thigh thatâs breaded enough to give you a crunch as you bite into it, but not so much that it takes away from the actual chicken. Itâs coated nicely in the heat level sauce you choose and is not over powering. The Tweener is great for someone who wants to eat a hot chicken sandwich without it being too spicy with heat. The Hot chicken sandwich is great for those that enjoy spicy food but donât want to feel it burn going down (or coming out)đŹ. The heat is subtle at first and sort of sneaks up as you enjoy the sandwich. It leaves you wanting another sandwich after you finish which may be why they have a reorder line next to where you place your original order! The fries are okay in my opinion, they are super small and skinny sort of like Freddyâs or Steak N Shake fries, but they arenât bad, just not my preferred method. Do yourself a huge favor and visit this place for some good chicken! Prices are very fair and even cheaper then some other chicken sandwich restaurants in the area. Next time I will get the Ghost Pepper heat level chicken sandwich and a couple of jumbo tenders with Mac n cheese. Will update after consumption....
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS!! SEVERE FOOD POISONING!! It brings me no satisfaction to leave this review, but I feel like I have no choice since the store manager refuses to answer my calls or return my voicemail. Itâs been over two weeks now and Joellaâs corporate has failed to respond to my email too. This is unacceptable.
I ordered the kale crunch salad with grilled chicken about 20 minutes prior to closing time. My guess is that in an effort to speed up the closing process they probably rushed to cook my chicken. 6 hours later I was puking my guts up for an entire day. It was horrible and I wouldnât wish it on anyone.
If you have to order chicken from Joellaâs my suggestion is get it fried instead to minimize the chances of any uncooked food borne pathogens landing in your stomach.
I used to love Joellaâs. Aside from some issues Iâve had in the past with employees at this store leaving items off my order, Iâve had a pretty good experience. After this experience though itâs safe to say no amount of free coupons will entice me to ever come back.
I tried to be civil about this, but since everyone just wants to ignore me thatâs why Iâm leaving this review. I hope you enjoyed your surprise inspection from the health department. If you wouldnât have continued to ignore me I never would have contacted them, but I get the feeling you guys just donât care.
Iâm not the kind to sue, but the next person who gets food poisoning might not be so nice and end up contacting his or her attorney. This is a serious matter and it needs to be dealt with...
Read moreThis evening, four of my friends and I chose Joellaâs for dinner, called in our order and drove to this Middletown location. After waiting in line, the young, tattooed gentleman at the counter was obnoxious, and borderline confrontational. Upon seeking clarification on our order, he raised his voice and assumed a sarcastic, hostile demeanorâ his tone and body language were radiating with the attitude that we were far too stupid & slow for his efforts/time.
We discovered when he finally cooperated that weâd actually placed our order at the St. Matthewâs location; this was obviously our mistake and no fault of the restaurant, but upon realizing the mistake, the guy actually started clapping sarcastically, as to insinuate yet again that we had outdone ourselves in stupidity.
Without wasting time with his attitude, we drove to the other location to pick up the food, only to discover that heâd called the location and had them dispose of it. Perhaps that was a mistake on his part, but the disrespectful behavior is far serious enough as it is to merit action on part of the locationâs management. We as a group have literally never felt so disrespected by any other employee of any restaurant, and we dine out constantly.
Simply put, it would be moronic not to fire this employee. To tolerate anyone who would sabotage your own business by treating your customer base this way would be a disservice to the entire company. For what itâs worth, we were frequent customers before tonight, and Chick Fil A fans...
