Food was amazing.... Service was atrocious.... Experience could not justify the cost.
Went there with my wife last night. Upon entering we were immediately seated, then waited for about 20minutes before anyone even came to our table to greet us. Other tables were seated around us and then promptly attended to. Once they figured out that nobody had been to our table a server came up and took our order.
After 10 minutes our server returned to notify us that the beer I ordered was out of stock, in fact they didn't have any non-alcoholic beer even though 4 different types were listed in the nenu. After saying I'll just take a water, drinks took another 10+ minutes to come out. We did however spot the bartender walking around aimlessly though. So at this point we've been seated for more than 40 minutes without so much as water placed on our table.
At one point we saw the fresh oysters we ordered on a cart rolling past us to another table and then when they figured out the oysters weren't for that table, they were rolled back into the kitchen. 8 minutes later the server came out to ask us if we wanted the oysters prior to our meal. We said yes that's fine. (Obviously I don't want them just sitting open in the hot kitchen)
They were then brought out. Oysters were improperly shucked, they were open but not separated from the shell. (If you are going to charge a premium for raw oysters at least shuck them properly)
When we were finishing up with the oysters the food came. The timing on the food wasn't terrible all things considered. Maybe 30-35minutes after we ordered it.
We Ordered the weekend special with the juicy special seasoning and medium spice. It was absolutely amazing flavor-wise, albeit a little small considering an almost $40 price tag for the dish. (We were still hungry after our meal and wanted to get out of there so we ended up going down to whey stationary for a grilled cheese sandwich afterwards)
Once finished with our food we waited around for a few minutes before getting the servers attention and asking for the check. After another 10 minutes waiting for our check we went up to register to see if we could expedite the process and get out of there.
After working in the restaurant industry for almost a decade, my assessment is as follows: The food is incredible. It's really a shame because the food we had was very tasty and their recipes are fantastic. Unfortunately the front of house execution fell short on every level, the service was basically non existent, the front of house staff was disjointed, disorganized and without any leadership. The experience as a whole didn't come close to justifying the cost. In fact as good as it was, by the end of our 1.5 hours of dining we couldn't wait to leave even though we were...
Read moreI would consider this an average restaurant, my experience was varied. I'm a fan of calamari and what they served me was sad looking, it looked almost like onion rings, they didn't serve it with marinara sauce (debatable whether it needs to be served with it), I asked for marinara sauce and our server said they didn't have it in house (I'll get back to this in a moment). Our server was a nice person, but she left us waiting FOREVER to order our food, she was not responsive at all, this happened multiple times. I point that out because the place is not that big, unless she was doubling as a chef in the back there was no reason to leave us hanging for that long. (Back to my marinara issue) A friend of mine noticed that they had fried cheese on the menu, I wondered if that could probably be mozzarella sticks, I said to myself "you can't serve mozzarella sticks without marinara", so when the waitress came back I asked "what's this fried cheese?" She said it was a type of cheese that was battered and fried, which I followed up with "does it come with any sauce?", which she was quick to point out that it came with a red sauce, the puzzle pieces clicked in her head as I said "THATS MARINARA SAUCE". We laughed a bit but the calamari was nasty so it stuck with me. So on to the steamed bag of seafood, this was definitely the highlight of the night, I had 1lb of shrimp with medium heat cajun seasoning, the shrimp were large and delicious, it was great. My girl had the weekend special which had 1 Lobster tail, 1 crab leg, and shrimp. My son had 1 crab leg and a bowl of shrimp fried rice. 1 Piña Colada, 1 chocolate martini, and one virgin colada. Three people and my total with the tip included was $185. For comparison the following night we went to a steakhouse with 5 people and we spent the same amount. The place was definitely overpriced, the experience was ok at best and the service was obviously not good. I might return for the shrimp one day but the negative experience and high price will stick with me...
Read moreI frequent this restaurant often, mostly during happy hour & I'm always left satisfied & then some. Most of the time, I sit at the bar, listening & watching the tv's. It was pretty empty this during this excursion,, around 5p on a weekday. There were some drink specials, but I didn't partake. I ordered my normal 2 ingredient cocktail, that was made by a friendly bartender with a well balanced hand.
I don't always get the seafood bag, but when I do, I definitely appreciate being able to control how spicy I want their house sauce to be for the boils. Other places do not have this option for their house sauce. Another great perk are the daily specials for bags. I was tempted, but didn't feel like getting messy. I am also pleased they have Catfish on the menu & the crunch is never lacking. I normally eat it with hot sauce at other restaurants, but Juicy serves it with tarter sauce. I was pleasantly surprised it goes well with the fish too. Additionally, during this visit I tried the shrimp gumbo. Man o man it was delish! Not spicy enough to cause your nose to run, but spicy enough where a cold beverage is refreshing. I may have to get it every time I go. The shrimp is a meaty medium size, with tails removed. The portion size was perfect where you still have room for the main entrée. This day, I treated myself to the chocolate mousse cake & it was devine. I don't know if they're making it or buying it, but I don't care. It was a smooth, sweet seni rich ending to a great dining experience.
This bar, dining & restrooms were all clean & surprisingly I couldn't detect any fishy, seafood smells. The staff here are friendly & they all acknowledge your presence & greet you & say their fairwells when leaving. Among all the more expensive restaurants on this strip, this place is a great option for an affordable & casual dine...
