I would like to share my experience with the management at the Chick-fil-A location at 1088 E Fort Union Blvd. This has nothing to do with their food or service which I've always found to be good.
My daughter went to work at this location shortly after turning 15. She was hired at $8 per hour and told that after 90 days she would have a review and be considered for a raise. Within the first 90 days she was a great employee and was even asked to help train new employees.
The 90 days came and went, no review, no raise. In the meantime, her best friend was hired at the same location and my daughter was tasked to train her. We soon discovered that her friend was hired at $9 per hour.
Long story short, over the next 3-5 months more kids were hired at a higher wage than my daughter but still no review and no raise. As her father I twice went and met with the manager and was told they were planning to give her a review. Another month went by with no review and no raise, so I went back and spoke with the owner. He apologized and said this was one area of their business (consistent reviews) they really needed to work on. He promised he would give her a review right away.
More time goes by and finally after almost 8 months of employment she was given a review and told she would get a 30-cent raise. She continued to work for about another 6-8 weeks, but the 30 cent raise never went into effect.
So, after almost a year working for Chick-fil-A my daughter resigned and took another job.
I'm writing this now because even months after she quit it still upsets me. Chick-fil-A prides themselves on being a great company with great benefits and incentives for their employees. I don't think this is standard practice throughout the company but rather an issue with the ownership at this particular location.
My advice to parents with teenagers looking for their first job? Chick-fil-A is a great place to start but perhaps a different location with different ownership where they actually care about their employees like they...
Read moreAlma, the manager is one of the rudest people I've ever met. Today was not the first time I had a negative experience with her specifically, but I usually let these kinds of things slide because I realize those attitudes are a reflection of that person and not myself. But today, I've got time. We ordered our food through the app for dine-in and scanned our table. Our friends joined and we needed a bigger table, so we moved. I forgot to tell the staff, but they have always called my name out so I figured it would happen this time as well. Almost 20 mins go by and we don't have our food, and it dawned on me I forgot to change the table number, so i went to inquire about it thinking that maybe they took it back. Instead, they had left it at the empty table without calling out my name, and the food sat there at this empty table for over 15 mins. By the time we all figured this out, the food was cold. And while i realize this was partly my mistake I said "they usually call out my name, but today they just dropped it off at an empty table" and I politely asked for warm food as my little one has sensory needs and will not eat it cold. Alma aggressively grabbed the food out of my hands, slammed it on the counter, did get me new food but then rudely scolded me saying "next time don't move tables" and walked away. Whatever her problem was today, this is NO WAY of treating a paying customer. Ever. I did not mistreat herstaff, I did not insult her. She has used her bad tone of superiority with me before and I guarantee she does it to others. Someone who cannot handle small inconveniences like this has no place in restaurant leadership...
Read moreThis chik fil a may need an upgrade on service or training of employees. We went in with several people to a restaurant that was 75% empty. We could not find clean table. So we asked a worker who was refilling straws to clean a table for us. She had no idea what we were saying. So we asked another worker walking by...who ignored us. I just grabbed the cleaning wipes and wiped down a table while another family member asked a third worker to explain to the first worker what we wanted done. After he did she started sloppily wiping off parts of the tables but not really cleaning them. I was instantly glad i cleaned my own table.
After that we watched her walk into the mens bathroom without putting a sign out front, while men were using it.
A) if you hire foreigners who cannot speak English, explain to them how to clean tables. B) You cannot assume they know our customs. You must train them on everything. C) it's easier to just hire someone who has our culture and common sense. D) Half the workers were standing around. E) WASHING TABLES SHOULD BE DONE WELL AND THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FILLING BACKUP STRAW SUPPLUES WHEN EVERYONE GETS A STRAW W THEIR DRINK ALREADY. Especially when no clean tables are available. You cannot assume everyone knows about good hygiene or has cleanliness understanding. Clearly this worker had little understanding.
Sanitizers and table washing should be priority for the eating area. Some of the sanitizers were empty.
I will say they food here was fresher than most Chik fil a stores. The service detracted imo.
You all...
