Some professional reviewers consider Mod the best of the fast fired pizza places. They may be right.
Based only on this visit, I prefer it to the last few build-your-own pizza and salad places I have visited although Blaze in West Palm Beach, not the one in IAH was neck-in-neck.
Very reasonable pricing, lots of great options, and you only have yourself to blame if you don't like the pizza.
My only complaint here is that I like really hot pizza. It wasn't at all. I like the possibility of burning my mouth it is so hot. I asked the magician-like piazzioli (noting that some pizza places don't let women handle the pizza oven.... just like they don't let men make fresh pasta ;c) to leave mine in a bit longer, she didn't.
The danger is when you load the pizza up then the crust cooks before all the toppings do. The crust was cooked well, the toppings were not. I am sure that they have a fix for this, it just shows down the assembly line.. I think Blaze fixes this by having a thicker crust option.
However I was amused as well as impressed. They even have a tool to de-puff the Corona lest it over cook on the bubbles (cool, in this case but not in a VPN place).
A well oiled...
Read moreI’ve come to this mod a few times. And it seems like the service is getting worse. I’m not gonna stop coming to this MOD because it’s the closest one to me and I really like their pizza, But I just waited 40 minutes for one mad dog pizza that I ordered on the app without any information on if it was taking longer. Which I’m normally happy to wait! I try not to be difficult, I worked in fast food for a while. But The guy stood there talking to a customer who seamed like a friend of his for like 10 minutes while I waited behind him to check if my pizza was ready another girl had to come around him and check on me. And when it was ready, he didn’t even call my name. I had to wheel up on my knee scoot (broken ankle) to see if it was mine. I love MOD but I just worked a 9 hour shift and was exhausted, but waited for my food for 30 extra minutes while watching 2-3 other groups get food before me who were in line when I came in to pickup my order 20 minutes after I had ordered it on the app. I’m just a little irritated. Trying to be understanding because they’re understaffed but tripling my wait time on a single pizza that wasn’t even a difficult order was kind of...
Read moreThe people at this MOD are awesome. They inadvertently burnt my pizza and had a fresh one already in the oven before I had even known what happened. (most of) the initial was absolutely edible, but they didn't just stuff it in the box only for me to find out when I got home and then get ticked off because it was scorched, they were up front and remade it with no hesitation and gave me both. My pup was stoked on the extra pepperonis he got. I've been back 3 times since, so they have more than made up for the initial loss. It's things like this that get people to come back. Plus, their pizzas are just dang good. People say food service employees no longer care because of rude customers over the past few years. I say go to MOD and find out that isn't true at all. You'll find several employees that obviously and absolutely care about doing a good job and making sure people have an excellent Made On Demand (MOD, if you couldn't tell) pizza. I'd take a mod over Dominos or Papa John's any day...
