Outstanding restaurant which brings to life the exquisite flavors of India through its Clay Oven with a wide range of menu options from street food to requisite menu items like Chana Masala. There are so many choices available, but not enough room in one’s stomach !! Located on Washington Avenue with easy street parking, this is a must see and enjoy new Indian restaurant in Downtown Minneapolis. The food freshness and quality are 10/10; the service is 10/10 (Krishna): the ambiance and cleanliness are 10/10. We started with chutney and papadum which is fresh, crispy, and flavorful. We tried the beautiful Dani Puri : beautiful and tasteful: Chana Masala was exquisite with perfect chana and the masala was not overpowering : the Chicken Tikka was great with fresh chicken and vegetables served on the sizzling platter : the Puri was light and tasty: our dessert was an exquisite icing on the cake . This is our second dining experience at Clay Oven, and we can not wait...
Read more6/9/23: we came back with our friends. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Korma, our friends liked their Lamb Biryani and Chicken Josh. My Tandoori Murg (aka Chicken Tandoor) was so so, I have had better at another restaurant nearby. The service was decent and the staff were friendly.
We got home from months away and Clay Oven has finally opened its door. I was too lazy to make dinner, thus I decided to walk across the street to check this place out. When the dish came out, it looks beautiful and the sauce was made with "extra" care to my liking (still too mild for me). The food was given a 4/5 star as I need to go back and try additional dishes before I can update its rating (to a 5 hopefully). Hopefully the restaurant will get its liquor license soon! The interior is bright, clean (including the restroom), and the service is good. I...
Read moreI’m beyond frustrated with my experience at Clay Oven through Uber Eats. They advertised a Buy One Get One Free promotion right on the app — which is the only reason I placed the order.
When I showed up to pick it up, they refused to honor the deal, told me they wouldn’t give me the second item, and then tried to cancel my order on the spot. No explanation, no effort to resolve it — just rude service and a blatant disregard for their own listing.
I ended up with nothing — no food, no refund, and a total waste of time. This is false advertising, plain and simple, and it’s unacceptable that they’re still allowed to list promos on Uber Eats that they won’t follow through on.
Uber Eats needs to review this restaurant immediately. and I’ll never order from this place again. If you see any deals from Clay Oven on Uber Eats —...
