I have textured Afro hair and visited Kat for a Brazilian Blowout. Before booking, I informed the salon about my hair type. While Kat was polite and asked me a lot of questions (like how to best detangle my hair and the ideal temperature for flat ironing), Iāve never had a stylist ask these kinds of questions before, which made it clear she wasnāt familiar with working on textured hair. The salonās website gives the impression that they service all hair types, but my experience suggested otherwise.
I was told there would be an additional $50 charge if the service took longer than 1.5 hours, and a trim was supposed to be included. However, I ended up being charged an extra $75, and Kat didnāt trim my ends. Iāve never had a Brazilian Blowout without a trim, and it was a bummer to leave the salon with obviously split ends, especially after paying $395 (plus a $100 tip). Kat even commented on the importance of using heat protection on my ends, which confirmed I needed a trim. Now, I have to find another stylist to do what shouldāve been included in the service⦠stressful experience for anyone with textured hair. It is so embarrassing walking around with spilt ends especially when you paid nearly $500 for a service!
The process itself took close to 4 hours; it usually takes about 2 hours for me. This wasn't the time factor, but once again it really had me curious about how many times Kat has dealt with Afro-textured hair. Her colleagues would often check in on her asking if she needed anything, as if doing my hair was such a feat, and she'd take breaks, something that didn't bother me, but I started to feel like I was a burden, especially with her repeated comments about how much hair I had.
To Katās credit, she did a great job applying the treatment and flat ironing my hair. My roots werenāt puffy at all. But the lack of a trim, combined with the extra charges and the overall experience, left me a bit dissatisfied. I am conflicted because she technically completed what I paid for.
If this salon doesnāt specialize in textured hair, I would recommend they reconsider how they advertise their services. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Kat to someone with textured hair, and I wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely insaneāI scheduled a full foil to make my dark blonde hair lighter. The day before the appointment, they asked me about my current hair and more about what I wanted to be done. They told me that I had to come in earlier, and suggested 1:30 for a 3:45 appointment. I thought that was a little odd due to the gigantic time difference that is. They said the latest I could come in is 2:30, and I was so excited for this appointment, I decided Iād somehow make it work with my full-time job (it was a Friday), in which I did. At the appointment, I showed the stylist a couple photos of what I had in mind, which was simply blonde hair. The lady was immediately scrambling around, and ended up telling me that she could not do it because she does not have the skill and my hair is too darkā¦š© I appreciate her honestly, because Iād be thoroughly upset if she did some sort of whack job. She told me there are only a few members on their team who could get that job done and that she could get me rescheduled with one of them. I said no thank you, I will go to a different salon. Understandably. I moved around my work schedule to arrive 45 minutes earlier than what was scheduled, just for them to waste my time all together. I asked her what I shouldāve said if it wasnāt a full foil, because thatās what Iāve always requested in the past and had no problems. She said what I wanted was āa specialty color.ā Dark blonde to light blonde?! I was baffled to say the least!!! Moreover, how are only a FEW of their workers able to do blonde hair, a natural and commonly requested color?! Again, I appreciate the stylistās honesty. Anyway, I would not recommend making an appointment with them, as their scheduling is unorganized and some of their staff lack, frankly what Iād call, a basic skill set. BELOW is a very recent selfie of myself, and the two other photos are the pictures I presented to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy two daughters were overdue for haircuts and I was long overdue for a cut & color so we decided to check out Women's Spa Salon for the first time. We booked all three appointments with Rhiannon and she was wonderful! Since it's COVID life right now, i stayed in the car with each child while the other was getting their haircut, then dropped them off back at home so I could have a blissful few moments alone to get my hair done! :) Both of my kiddos LOVED their experience, they had a grand time chatting Rhiannon up for their one-on-one time and they came out with adorable fresh cuts. (They now want to go back to get some fun colors added). The salon was clean and COVID prepared so I felt very comfortable being there (stations spread out, plexiglass around each area, everything wiped down, all respecting mask wearing, etc.) Rhiannon color-matched my hair to what I had been doing perfectly, plus had some great recommendations. Rhiannon did a wonderful job taking the time to make each of the girls feel special and I was super happy with all of our results. Thank you, Rhiannon,...
