Simply put, this is hands down the best place for a guy to get his hair cut. Ever since the new ownership took over earlier this year, this place has completely turned around. From Brad the owner on down, the entire team at Men's Spa delivers a high-end experience at a very affordable price (which is great for a frugal guy like me).
I call it an experience, because when you come to Men's Spa you don't just get a haircut. Oh no, when you walk in the door, you are greeted by multiple people who are sincerely glad you are there, you are offered something to drink, you are provided a shirt to wear so that you don't get hair all over your own shirt...and that's before you even start the hair cutting process. (The attention to detail is fantastic!)
Then, instead of the stylist just asking you what you want them to do (as if you are an expert in hair styling), they spend time getting to know you, learning more about what you do and the style you are going for, and then they actually talk through ideas for how to make your hair look good, both when you walk out the door that day and (more importantly) how to keep it looking good consistently until the next time you come in. Somehow they find a way to cut my hair so that it keeps looking good even as it is getting longer. With the places I've gone to in the past, even if they made it look good that day, after a week or so, it was nowhere near as good and would look worse as it grew out. This has not been the case for me with Men's Spa.
In addition to a great haircut and tips on how to keep it looking good, my experience at Men's Spa has included cleaning up my eyebrow hair (which my wife immediately noticed and loved), trimming my nose hair, shaving my neck hair, shampoo and conditioning, scalp massage, and a mini-facial (which I had never had before, but have discovered that I like).
Top that all off with a great atmosphere and a great staff that is fun to hang out with, and you have the best men's haircut experience you will...
Read moreFirst of all, I felt very uncomfortable from the beginning. The staff made me feel as though I shouldn't even be there. (I am the customers friend). I set up the appointment for him, and helped him pick out a picture of a cut he would like. We picked a longer style because his hair was really long and we just wanted to shape what he had. I left to go eat while he was getting his hair cut. I came back and Emma had chopped off all his hair. It was extremely short, and not even close to one of the six pictures we offered as a reference. When I asked Joe what she said when he showed her the picture, she said he would have to use a lot of product to get it to look that way. Which has nothing to do with the cut styles we had picked. Not only that but the cut itself was terrible. The back of his hair was too long, the part behind his ears was too long and sticking out. He had long hairs all over his neck. I asked her to clean up the back, make it shorter, I meant all over the back but she just shortened the corners behind his ears- very odd. We decided to just leave, so I gave her my groupon and Joe had $10 cash to tip, which I am sure he wanted to give it all to her becuase he is nice, but she didn't even offer change. As he was getting changed I tried to begin small talk with Emma before we left, but either she didnt hear me, ignored me, or was too eager to run out the door to smoke a cigarette before we could even exit the spa. After we left, Joe was visably upset, and we both agreed we wanted to go back to have her fix it but we couldn't because she chopped it all off. He did not want an average short haircut, comparable to that of Fantastic Sam's or Great Clips. Seeing as you are a mens spa, we figured you would specialize in all types of mens cuts, to include shaping long styles. We will not be back, and will not hesitate to share the...
Read moreThe quality of haircut I get here is amazing. I keep coming back because of it......
However, I think I had my last cut here. The price for a men's haircut is just way out of the ball park. I thought it was wildly high pre-covid, but now with no wash, blow dry, face massage, they have went down in services and it is still as expensive as ever. I understand the new standards due to COVID-19 are nothing Men's Spa can control, but like I said, I had a hard time justifying the price before, and I swear they raised the price recently while the services have went down.
One last thing, because it is something I find important. The customer service here is the worst. It is the epitome of hipster service. Just pure laziness and doing things when they want to and the bare minimum. I will make a hair appointment and I would say 3 out of 4 times I wait anywhere from 10 to one time 35 minutes. This last time, I waited 15 minutes. Now once again, due to COVID-19 which is out of their hands, I got there 5 minutes early, called the desk, they said someone will be there to grab you in a second....... I waited there in the hot humid sun until 13 minutes after my appointment time. No warning of, hey your barber is running late, we will come get you in a about 10 minutes.... just yup, someone will come in a second. So I am standing at the door sweating my shirt through, looking like a moron. My guy must have just taken a break, I could see he wasn't cutting anyone's hair, no one came in or out while I was looking like the Men's Spa bouncer standing outside the door with no purpose. It is a rare occurrence, when my barber is ready on time.
I do love my haircuts here, but I have just had too much of slow, lackluster, lazy, carefree service and I am sick of paying top...
