I'm blown away. I'm here in Minneapolis needing some breakfast. This spot is open and near my office. Reviews are great but otherwise doesn't look special. I walk in and it's literally a convenience store with sandwich spot in one corner. Scanning the menu, the Breakfast in Bombay catches my eye. Egg, chorizo, chilli crunch, alfalfa sprouts, garam masala spread among others? That obviously speaks to me deeply.
I put in my order. Guy at the counter immediately acknowledges me and tells me it'll be a few minutes. Okay whatever sounds good. I'm still not expecting much because it's a pretty high bar to get that combo right.
I get my sandwich and open the box. WHAT. This thing is beautiful! They have no right to be having PRESENTATION at this joint. It was only 9 bucks (ok I know breakfast sandos should be like 5 bucks but that was the before times)! Well I go ahead and bite in. All I can say is this sandwich is excellence. Egg has the perfect consistency and the softness is complemented by the crunch of the chilli. The garam masala spread adds flavor without oozing all over the place and falling everywhere (I think sandwiches that have too much spread are gross and rely on the spread to cover up bad ingredients). The brioche bun is perfect, sweet and lightly toasted. The sprouts, onions, and radishes add a nice freshness. And the chorizo is just great. Just wow. The size is perfect for biting - no straining or trying to catch falling bits. Each bite contains the correct ratio of ingredients - no slipping or sliding. WELL DONE LADS...

I usually avoid the North Loop, because I don’t like its pretentious vibes, but this spot is super down to earth and could easily exist in South Minneapolis. I’ve never seen a sandwich counter in a convenience store in Minnesota, and I love the East Coast energy it emulates.
I ordered the Breakfast in Bombay without chorizo. It was scrumptious. Loved the buttery bun, flavorful chili oil, and fresh sprouts. The scrambled egg was so fluffy and was the perfect preparation choice for this sandwich. It’s definitely messy, so make sure to grab some napkins. I didn’t grab any, and I quickly regretted it. It’s fun to lean into the experience though. Also, there isn’t any seating in the store, and there aren’t many benches around, so plan on leaving the North Loop to eat it, unless you don’t mind searching for a quiet corner. My fiancé and I ended up walking a number of blocks and sitting on a random ledge, which worked for us.
One suggestion I have is to add more default vegetarian options to the menu. The Breakfast in Bombay would benefit from some avocado or soy chorizo.
Overall, great experience and will...
Read moreHusband and I have mixed feelings. I think this place is EGGCELENT for what it is, and he doesn't think it's 5-star. You could serve me dog poopy on a brioche bun and I'd like it tho 🤷 I got the Classic with Sausage, Cheddar, and their Signature Sauce (still no idea what this is) and added red onion. Perfect breakfast sandwich. Quick service inside the 5th Avenue Market. Husband made his own sando, and he said the Chorizo was the perfect blend of heat and flavor. I know he enjoyed it and made a huge mess eating it. But still not 5 stars? I don't know, man. Parking is tough, I fought a dentist for their spot at Loop Dental. But dentists are...
