My wife was super excited to go here as due to scheduling we were not able to go out on Valentine’s day. I had never been but she recommended so we made reservations 2/15/2023. The person at the door who sat us was amazing, super courteous and kind. Once seated we were greeted by our waitress. She handed us a menu and we took some time to look at it. I am a simple guy so my plan was just to order a burger. I am sure this place is not known for them but even still I was expecting something edible. We ordered and noticed our waitress lacked energy and barely spoke to us during our experience. She lacked enthusiasm and after hearing other tables order she did not even mention the specials the other tables around us were being offered. The wife had jambalaya and scallops. We did enjoy the cheesy bread as it was a nice appetizer while we waited for our food. When our food arrived which was prompt my wife’s plate of scallions appeared to be accompanied by frozen reheated vegetables that were less then appealing. My food looked great at glance although once I finally assembled my not so fancy burger and took the first bite it lacked flavor and reminded me of plain ground beef shaped as a patty with absolutely no seasoning. I did my best to make it taste good after all I had pepper jack cheese and added jalapeños. I doctored it up best as I could. I took several bites and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but after the 4th or 5th bite I actually spit it up in the napkin as it was so bad. We finished as much as we could and even though I barely finished my food I asked for a to go box. The waitress kindly boxed everything up for me. I did not want to complain so we paid and left a more then reasonable tip for the experience “25 percent ”. This is also when we noticed the waitress who lacked energy also become a lot more attentive and kind right before I paid. I have to admit the to go box was immediately thrown in the trash which was the majority of the food for my portion that I paid for. Super big let down and very disappointed. I am not sure this place lives up...
Read moreService was ok. We could barely hear the waiter because of the noise level. But he was personable and boxed our food for us. Food was really bad though. We ordered “European style” chips and crab cake. Chips were over fried. They didn’t taste good. We left most of them. Crab cake was gritty and greasy. It was not good either. But it came with a side decorative salad that was very good. We didn’t even know we were getting that but it’s the best thing on the appetizers. For entrees we ordered prime rib and grilled Cajun catfish with sides vegetable medley and asparagus. Prime rib was very chewy and inedible. Three bites and we were done. It was charred intensely. Same with the catfish. Charred to its core. Fish was over cooked. Came with “dirty rice” and it was dry and must be sitting out for a while. Asparagus barely touched heat because it was raw. We just couldn’t tell them so many issues and send them back. We asked the waiter to just box them up. We were there for a birthday, so we couldn’t not order desserts. We ordered chocolate “cake” and strawberry shortcake. Chocolate cake was more like a chocolate fudge. Luckily my husband likes fudge, so he enjoyed it. Strawberry shortcake was not really a shortcake. They put strawberry syrup on top of cornbread and sprinkled some blueberries. I like cornbread, but it was too dense and heavy to eat. I left half of it. Drinks were very strong. We ordered mezcal sunset and American mule. American mule has way too much booze in it. I couldn’t finish it. Mezcal sunset was very good. Overall, the food is awful and way overpriced. Service is the saving grace. But not enough to...
Read moreThis was my first time dining with you. I had some concerns with the quality of service that Parker, the server of our table, was giving. I was willing to overlook that until I noticed half my meal was missing from my take home box. The table was asked if we need boxes and I rose my hand for a box to take home the ribs and veggies that remained on my daughter’s plate. Parker did not confirm if she was boxing all of the remaining contents, but proceeded with only packaging the ribs portion of the meal. Once I discovered this last night not only was I not okay that half my meal was gone, but that I had paid full price for it. In addition, the food was just thrown away. Food waste is a huge concern for me as I grew up under the “Waste not, want not” theology. In seeing that the vegetables were just thrown away it also reminded me of the low quality of service that was given yesterday evening and I think the missing vegetables are just a reflection of the quality received. She could have quickly asked if we wanted everything on the plate to go into the box to provide that quality level of guest experience. After I brought the tot he attention of the owner he reminded me of his experience and the rules of the restaurant industry and then offered to deliver cooked veggies to my residence. I do live quite some ways from the restaurant and feel that delivering cooked food to my home would not make it here fresh nor would that be a productive use of time and financial resources. I appreciate the thought, but what would you have done if I was a guest your restaurant from...
