Lu's Sandwiches — Restaurant in Minneapolis

As good if not better than Chipotle just down the road. Food was tasty and fresh, vegetables cut in back and avocados carved in front of you. Meat is good with plenty of options for meats, vegies and sauces. Prices seemed reasonable considering fresh vegies in the middle of the city and near campus. The menu at first glance is a little difficult to navigate, but don't fret, simply ask for a sandwich or bowl, and the type of meat you want, then the staff guide you through the exact vegies and other options you want. Everything is very clean and tables were nice. The only reason for the 4/5 star service was because it was a bit hard to hear the staff over the glass. Overall an excellent new spot to eat, very refreshing from junk food or Chipotle. A must try experience for UMN students and others...

I love Lu's in general. But specifically for this place, I admire the workers so much. Working on a college campus is tough, with the demand and traffic. This location has the nicest staff who always serve me so well. I come here because I know the serving is reliable. They ALWAYS stuff my bahn mi with toppings. I get the curried tofu because I'm vegetarian, and the flavor is incredible, you can't find tofu with an intense flavor like that anywhere. They give me three or four scoops of protein, and then stuff the rest with veggies. So good, I definitely get my money's worth. I sometimes get the rice noodle bowl, which is SO good, but not as worth it for the price. My only complaint is sometimes the fountain drinks are out of order, and the bathroom situation is.....

I placed a catering order for a picnic with 40 guests a week in advance, with delivery requested at 11am. The catering staff called and said that they could deliver, but not until 11:30 due to the location of the picnic in St. Paul. The day of the picnic, the order still hadn't showed up by 11:50. I tried repeatedly to call Lu's, but kept getting voice mail. The delivery person texted close to noon, saying they'd be there in 20 minutes, and finally showed up at 12:20 (by which time any of the guests had left, with no lunch). They refunded the delivery fee, but no one would return calls or emails after the event. TERRIBLE customer service - would NOT recommend Lu's...
