This diner used to be our favorite, and we've been regulars 3X a year for the past five years, excluding 2020 and half of 2021. Today, in a group of five, we received prompt service as usual. However, upon receiving our breakfast, I noticed significant changes in the appearance and preparation of our omelette and scrambled eggs. The omelette, resembling an overcooked crepe folded like a taco, was unlike my previous experiences and the scrambled eggs were definitely not to my daughter’s liking. With the omelette, the bacon was scrambled with the eggs, over cooked to a crisp on one side, folded with nothing between, topped with cheddar cheese, and three spoon scoops of avocado. Objectively speaking, this is an effortless method for making an omelette, which does not align with the elevated dining experiences that command a higher price. Not only did this differed from the usual fluffy omelette with bacon inside, topped with cheddar and avocado slices, it wasn’t an appetizing presentation at all. The scrambled eggs were undeniably disappointing; cooked similarly to the omelette, resembled an overcooked crepe.
When I raised my concern, the waitress defended the subpar preparation of my omelette and the scrambled eggs by citing her 10 years of employment, claiming that it has always been made that way, which I found inconsiderate. Despite her offer to have our dishes remade, I declined, as the dining experience was already affected.
As a business owner myself with 25 years in customer service, and as a dining customer, I believe handling customer feedback should involve listening and making amends rather than justifying deviations. Citing one's years of employment to justify, in this case, can deter customers from returning. As with this matter, sadly, we will not be returning. I chose not to escalate the matter further on our last day in Moab to avoid tension and while I wouldn’t spoil it for my children, but I felt it necessary to share this experience for improvement for others and definitely for the waitress herself. I didn’t find an email to send this in privately so a public review was the...
Read moreStopped by here for dinner after a 6-hour drive to Moab because we just wanted some quick cheap food.
Serving size was decent but the quality was just so so. We love eating out and good quality food so you can tell you only get what you pay for here.
I ordered the Kokopelli Chicken Dinner (grilled chicken breast seasoned, topped with melted cheddar and green chili sauce). The chicken was just okay. Not too much flavoring in there or anything. It was cooked okay as well. Nothing special to note. It didn't have that nice charring of a grilled chicken or anything of that sort. Quite a thin breast piece as well. Also that green chili sauce ... I don't know what the great specialty of it is because it was not so rich in flavor or anything of that sort. I was expecting something that actually look like green sauce but this was kind of a brown sauce and there was no wow factor at all! For the sides I asked for some steamed broccoli instead of the bread so they definitely delivered on that. The side salad was decent with that dressing. For the potatoes I asked for the signature Sweetwater Potatoes (Skin-on fried potatoes, seasoned with green peppers, green onions, bacon bits, and blend of spices, topped with melted cheddar cheese) - These were actually really good. Super greasy but a good flavor. Good amount of bacon and green peppers and cheese was not to abundant. If only they were less greasy. I would have enjoyed them a lot more.
My fiance go out the Chicken Smothered Burrito (fajita chicken, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, smothered green chili sauce, topped with lettuce and pico de gallo). He definitely enjoyed his meal; said he actually loved it, and finished the entire plate! I tasted a little and...
Read moreSo at our first morning in Moab Utah off course we wanted to have super early breakfast so we can get more time to explore Arches National Park.
In front of our hotel was this diner so we decided to try it. Thankfully it was open bright and early. We went for breakfast at 6 AM.
Arriving we were ask to be seated anywhere we would like. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and explain throughly a little bit of everything. Coffee is free and also if you want some to go, unfortunately the coffee was not strong enough as we are used to it but something is something. We visited this restaurant twice and by our second day, they already knew who of us wanted coffee and water with no ice for the entire table. Little things employees notice about their customers make it such a great experience.
We were a group of 5. I ordered for both visits the Diner House Pancakes (loved the pancake here as they made it exactly as my nanny in Colombia will make it, that's how delicious they were! Brought so many amazing memories).
My friends ordered Lions Back Breakfast, Green Chili Omelette, Western Omelette, Smothered Moab Melt, Grilled Ham & Cheese, Island in the Sky Biscuits & Gravy, Fajita Skirt Steak Burrito (on their behalf no complaints and very happy with their choices)
All in all, anytime I come back to Moab will definitely be a spot to have breakfast!
Highly...
