If you want to be treated with decency, Sultan Mediterranean is not the right place.
From the start, we, a party of four, were faced with terrible service, if you can even call it service. The host, off the bat, was not friendly or welcoming, and did not greet us.
We asked the host if we could switch from a table due to the proximity to the door to something further back, and we were made to wait while the host seated another party that came in after us.
After we were seated, we requested water and asked for ice, which was never given.
We did not get the small plates that we saw another server give their table until we had to specifically ask for them, and then the server, who was also the host, took them from another table.
He gave us two of the plates, and we are a party of four. We also received these after our food came, which is not acceptable.
We also did not receive utensils until well after our food arrived, and we had to request utensils while our food was getting cold. We were also given them much later than we asked.
We ordered a dish and requested a specific side that was included, but we got the wrong item instead. When we brought this up with the server, he took away the plate, just scraped off the wrong item and threw it away, and gave us the same plate with the correct item.
The server did not check up on us once. It was not even busy— there were only three other small parties apart from us. Multiple people from our party ran out of water and it was never refilled.
On top of the terrible service we were given, there was an automatic 18% service fee. We don’t mind paying if the service was decent— we would have even given more—but the host/server barely even served us. We were just pointed to the fine print on the menu stating that they had the right to charge us.
We talked to the host about the service, and when we mentioned the lack of plates, the host rudely and sarcastically said “So you ate without plates?”
The server used the automatic 18% gratuity as an excuse to treat us with rudeness and barely any respect and the total opposite to customer service.
So, if you want to eat out, save your money and dignity and go...
Read moreStay away from this restaurant if you have specific food restrictions. They are disrespectful, careless and rude to people’s preferences. When we called them to ask if their meat is halal, they replied all of their meat is halal. Then when we went to their restaurant, in the menu specific items were marked halal. But the waiter (Mahmoud/ Mohammad) said confidently that “everything is halal except the beef gyro…NO MATTER WHAT IS WRITTEN IN THE MENU”…so we ordered few items except the beef gyro and dined in. The next day, we went again to dine in… asked again about the menu to confirm the halal status of their food…..the waitress mentioned a different list!!! She mentioned few other items than beef gyro as NON- HALAL!! And we found out that we had ordered non halal items the previous day! We asked for the waiter who served us the previous day, and seemed like the waitress was fearful and told that he (1st day waiter) didn’t know, they don’t remember who was our waiter etc etc. We recognized the waiter by face and pointed that he was our waiter…. Then that waiter came along with another man who gave us another list of halal food (different from the waitress of day 2). And when we asked why they have served non halal food despite asking so many times, he simply said it’s tough to find halal meat, he himself eat non halal meat in spite of being a Muslim, and it’s not a big deal and it’s not our fault if we ate non halal unknowingly!!! He didn’t say sorry or seem to be sorry at all!! We asked for the manager, the waitress said she was in charge that day! Asked for the owner…. She refused to give his number and kept our number and told that the owner will contact us !! No one called after that. From the other reviews and replies of the owner, now we see that disrespect is very common from them. Wish we saw the reviews before...
Read moreThe high reviews did not match our experience at all. We are from NJ and have had amazing Mediterranean food all over. The food here was decent at best, overpriced, and small portions. They said it was to go only even though people were eating inside. The owner said we could eat it outside which seemed reasonable as they were working on something inside with sewage and his energy seemed normal. The young server at the register reeked of prejudice. We took time to look at a menu, another couple came behind us and did the same, I put my menu on the counter and was ready to order when the server immediately asked the white man to the left and slightly behind us for his order. I thought it was odd but let it go. We sat outside at a table, the same white man and his partner sat at another table, and another white woman was standing near the door for her pick up. The server said “your food is ready” and hand delivered every order in the bag to the white people. To us, he said - guys your order is ready and went in. We waited since we had tipped despite not being required and we saw him personally deliver everyone else’s order. After 10min I went inside and he said “your order has been ready to pick up.” I responded saying you hand delivered it to everyone else so we thought you were doing the same for us. He lied to my face and said “No I didn’t.” Young man please check your UNCONSCIOUS BIAS and be mindful and reflective of your beliefs and how you treat people instead of being defensive and gaslighting others just because someone brought something to your awareness. This restaurant was the only negative experience we had our entire...
