There is nothing written online or in store about the service animal policy for Applebee's Restaurant. My wife's service dog is an 'about the size of a soda bottle' miniature Yorkie. She fits in her purse wrapped in a blanket and is extremely calm and quiet. We take her everywhere. We have never been denied service from any restaurant in the area, including this Applebee's which we are a regular (until now). The fact that we were denied service is not the issue. It's how the manager handles the situation is. My wife and I visited the Applebee's in Clarion, Pa. about 12:30 on St. Valentines Day, Friday February 14, 2025. The hostess met us at the door. She saw the dog's head poking out of the purse but didn't say a thing except for seating. We requested a booth. She sat us at a booth in the middle of a large crowd of patrons. Our waitress came over and chatted with us for a few minutes and stated how cute the dog was. She took our order and went to put it in. My wife and I were chatting when the manager came over and, in a voice, loud enough to draw the attention of the entire section of the restaurant. "What kind of dog is that"? she asks. The area got much quieter with all eyes on us. I was stunned for a moment. Before I could reply, she continued, "Is that a service dog"? I replied, "Yes, it is". Then the manager went on a loud rant about the company's policy concerning service dogs and that we had to leave. The entire restaurant was watching. My wife and I were so embarrassed. Our issue is how this was handles by the staff. The hostess could have said she needed to check with the manager before seating us. The waitress could have done the same thing. The manager could have taken my or myself aside and explained the police to us. To make such a spectacle at our expense was totally not acceptable. Thank you for reading this...
Read moreDidn't have the best of experiences here sadly. The waiter was very short and kind of rude when my sisters and I came in. When we asked for 2 high chairs because my sister and I have 2 9 month old children he was rude and said well you guys can't sit at a booth which we had never asked to sit at a booth and then made a big deal about having to turn the table because they can't have two high chairs on the end. He then was okay for a bit but would get moody and short with us and didn't offer to take the empty plates off the table so that we would have more room. Almost all of our food was good. I was a little disappointed that my bourbon chicken and shrimp was charred and burnt but it was still okay tasting. The potatoes were great. I had asked our server when he brought out our food to have the cooks to start making my to go order so that it would be ready to go when we were ready to leave . When it came time for us to pay and leave, I asked the waiter if he had forgot about my to go order because it wasn't on my bill. He told me he just forgot to put it on the slip and that it should be ready any minute and that he would be back with my correct bill. I paid and proceeded to wait another almost 15 minutes for my to go order. I wish he would have just told me he had forgot and that it was gonna be a little bit of a wait instead of telling me it should be ready any minute. I think maybe he was having a bad day. I hope the next time I go it will be a better experience. I was super excited to try it out because I had heard good things from my sisters and was disappointed that we had a not so...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend come here a couple times a year. We went for our 6 month anniversary and I ordered a pasta and he ordered the stir fry. We also got boneless chicken wings as an appetizer. Our food sat in the window for a long time the plate was very hot and the food looked old. Our server was nice but we saw her maybe twice and had to ask other servers for what we needed. We went again a couple months later and we got our food quick and our server was very nice. The steak I ordered was very fatty. We got nachos as an appetizer and they were very good.

Not sure if you can do more than one review so putting my new review here. Went out with some friends today. We got the mozzarella sticks, boneless chicken wings, and chicken wonton tacos for appetizers. They were delicious. Our server was super nice and did a great job. I got the double bacon burger and my one friend got a different one, the fries that came with them were perfect. My other friends got the Mac and cheese with the sweet chicken tenders and some kind of steak over rice dish. I know bacon is greasy but the burger was soaked in grease and was dripping everywhere and the cheese had this cheap rubber like consistency and didn’t even taste like American cheese. My friend said her Mac and cheese tasted like it was made from a box with powdered cheese and old fried chicken. Normally she loves it. Overall it was a good time but the food could use a...
