I figured that based on stellar Yelp reviews, this restaurant would be great. It is not bad, but certainly not one that I would go to again. My fajita, according to the menu was supposed to have carrots, celery, Mushrooms, Onion and bell peppers, and shrimp. It came in and didn't have carrots or celery. I asked the waiter if this dish was supposed to have carrots and celery and he immediately confirmed. I asked him to find them in my dish and he could not. He took it back and they added the stir-fried carrot and celery and brought it back while my wife was half finished with her food.
If the waiter knows what goes in the dish and the cook doesn't, there is a problem in the kitchen.
My fajita dish, although sizzling, was quite small. I typically don't finish my fajita in some Mexican restaurants. But at Tres Marias, I was hungry after I finished it (I already asked for more tortillas too).
Restaurant is clean and table service is good. Food tastes good if it has all the ingredients in it. Portion is small. Pico De Gallo portion was tiny and served on a small flat saucer which makes it difficult to dig in. Hot sauce for chips was reasonable. The bean dip was good and a pleasant surprise. The refried bean on my dish was specially good and I don't usually like the refried beans.
Restaurant was clean and nearly empty during our visit but it filled up. Beer prices were not bad. Didn't visit the bathroom. Parking is street parking and depending on when you go, it might be a problem.
2 stars is being quite fair during my last experience. 3 stars is too many, and they deserve...
Read moreUpdate March 2024: I don't really think I'll be back. They nickel and dime you- I get it, they need to make money! But with 20 bucks a plate + a drink that isn't water (you only get one free refill, then they charge you for any after that) + them being stingy with things like napkins... it kind of ruins the experience of going out in my opinion.
We had 4 people at our table. Asked for extra napkins because they only give you one per person and it's the one wrapped around your silverware. They brought 2 napkins over. For 4 people. Are we supposed to rip them in half or something?
It's just kind of frustrating. I get it, but at the same time, it's not fun. Thus... I won't be back.
The flautas were okay, but they gave us the stink eye for me asking for guacamole on the side so my dad could have it since I don't care for guacamole. If it's being paid for anyway, what does it matter... you know?
It just kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
Original post in 2023: It was pretty good as far as Mexican food goes in the PNW. I felt like my dish was a bit greasy (milanesa), so next time I'll go with something else.
The beans also destroyed my family and we share one bathroom for 4 people......
Read moreTerrible food, my burrito barely had any meat, 1-2 small pieces of asada per piece cut. Coming from Mexican decent this is disgraceful to my own people. Cant even consider this good Mexican food. As far as to say not even authentic, terrible tasting food. Cheese wasn’t even melted also, can’t even do something as simple as that. Friend got a dish of 2 enchiladas with shrimp and rice with beans. Shrimp enchiladas are disgusting, don’t know who would’ve thought of that combo. Each plate was $20+, would’ve thought to at least get decent food portions. My friends enchiladas only came with 1 slice. I wouldn’t even call it 1, I would say half of it, we asked for more and mentioned the 1 slice of avocado. They gave us a bowl with 5 slices, it resulted in $4. Not even half of the avocado, ( around 80 cents to $1.20) per avocado in a store. Just an overall terrible food experience. Staff was alright but food shouldn’t cost that much and be that poor in quality. Wouldn’t recommend at all for a Mexican spot in Monroe. (Edit) as of typing this got a bad upset stomach and currently stuck in...
