My husband and I went on a Saturday at 7pm with no reservation. It was busy. 2 kids with us under 10 years old. Greeted but told we need a reservation. Okay, what time? 8:15pm. Okay we will come back as we had wanted to try the new place (since we loved Adam's and we love beer).
Back at 8:15pm. Table not ready but that's ok, 5 mins later we are seated by the hostess with glasses, menus and coloring pages/crayons. We are told someone will be with us shortly. 15 minutes later (which also seems like an eternity when you are hungry) we are greeted by waite staff with "Have you been brought any water?" No Miss clearly we haven't been addressed by anyone since the hostess seated us.
At least she promptly came back with water. Then took our drink orders and appetizer orders. We were ready to order our meals (especially since our kids were starving) but declined to make the order fearing we would get appetizers with our food instead of before. If it's busy, order you food and request it be brought after the appetizers. Request the children's food be delivered immediately. Because our waitress SAID she would be back to take our food order once the appetizers were delivered BUT she did not.
We did receive our drink orders right away but it took some time for the appetizers. I would say around 15 minutes. Now, I know it is busy, I know the food is good and cooked to order... I can see dishes being delivered around us and people enjoying their food.
In hindsite I would have ordered my drinks and appetizers as soon as 1st contact had been made. I have a whole other problem with the way we were approached by who turned out to be our waitress. She was polite and friendly HOWEVER, she did not introduce herself, she did not have any information to give us regarding the beers, wine, cocktails or any other drinks that may have been on special or featured for the evening.
Being that it was a Saturday, I found this surprising. She also did not offer 8information when we finally did get to order our food much much later than is appropriate.
Our food was delivered another 20 minutes later but I'm gonna let this slide because we were enjoying 3 appetizers which were amazing. I'd love to focus on exactly what we ordered but since it was great, I'll leave it at that.
My young children ordered from the kids menu and devoured their meals. That's pretty much the most important part when we take them out.
Once we were enjoying our food, most of the people around us were finishing and the place began to slowly empty. Our waitress did return to offer more drinks but even after being served a trial of one of their brews, I decided on something else and wasn't asked about it until much later. By the time the drink I wanted was delivered, we had finished our meal and were waiting to ask about dessert. I would have passed on a 2nd drink at this point.
We were asked what we'd like for dessert and I had questions about what would keep if we took it to go. I picked a dessert and was told it could easily be prepped for takeout. We were brought boxes as requested.
ANOTHER 15 MINUTES LATER we were asked if the dessert had been delivered. We were ready to go and my child had fallen asleep on my lap. NO. The waitess very hurriedly stated she would see about it right away and within 5 minutes I was brought a dessert I did not order.
I knew all of the desserts would be good as I had watched people aroind us receive them and enjoy every bite... So I took it and we left.
I do not intend this review as a bash on this place as it is new and delicious. I hope it serves to remind the staff that they can do better even while busy. I've been to plenty of places, busy on a Saturday, who have managed to get it right despite these circumstances and I hope to have a better experience the next time we dine there.
I know food service is a rough business and I thank you for...
Read moreMy wife and I went in for our first time last night. We had happy hour and there were a lot of great options. There were $5 drinks that were awesome. They didn't taste like some kind of pre-made nonsense, they tasted like quality drinks. We got the fried cornbread, the brussel sprouts, the wings, the arancini and the wagy burger with fries. Fries. The burger was not on the happy hour menu so it was a thicker version of the burger. I'm going to talk about each appetizer individually. There were some hits and there were some misses so I want to point that out. The cornbread was phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. I had never had deep fried cornbread before and the honey that they drizzle on the plate and the rosemary and thyme just really kicked it up a notch. I'm not 100% sure there was Rosemary but there was definitely thyme in there. The brussel sprouts were awesome. They were deep-fried and covered in a cheese sauce. I don't want to call it a cheese sauce cuz it wasn't a cheese sauce, I want to say bechamel but I think there was a better word for it and I'm forgetting it. It also had some pickled onions on top which has a nice peppery flavor. I think they may have put a couple anise seeds on there. Overall, I would eat those brussel sprouts every day until I die. The fact that they are deep fried and covered in cheese might make that happen sooner than later. Next we have the wings. They are a full wing skin on, unbreaded. They were awesome. deep fried and then simmered in the sauce in a frying pan. They were served in a bowl with a lot of that sauce to kind of soak in. There was something in the middle of the bowl, collard greens? It just visually wasn't appealing once you remove the chicken which is not a complaint. arancini. I am a huge fan of arancini. This thing was a beast. It was huge. Initially when I cracked it open it was gooey and oozy. That solidified really quickly. I think the one downside to having such a large arancini is that if you don't finish it quickly, it's going to turn back into solid cheese. In my experience I've usually had three smaller balls on the plate. But there was definitely a wow factor of having that big thing come to the table. It was fried perfectly. The one thing I didn't like about it was it seemed to have a really smoky flavor to it. Almost like there was chorizo. They said that it was ham and cheese but it really came across like chorizo or something with smoke paprika. My wife preferred it without the red sauce that it was in. it was kind of one note. I think that if it was served with a basil pesto or something to kind of cut through that heavy fried cheese it might come not be so heavy. wagyu Burger off of the dinner menu. This was my least favorite thing of the meal. It was very undercooked. They didn't take a temperature when we ordered the burger and I'm usually okay with medium. Anything below medium on a burger I think unfortunately makes the burger fall apart. It was blue rare at best. The downside is it is served on ciabatta. In my opinion. Ciabatta does not have the ability to hold up to moisture very well. So two or three bites into this thing and it basically fell apart on the plate. We had a lot of food so we just pushed it off to the side and continue to eat our food. We were very happy overall with the experience. When you're sitting at the chef's table. It's extra weird to send your food back In my opinion. I really enjoyed the chef's company and the servers. everything other than the burger. Yes, the arancini was smokier than I would have liked, but that's again. Just a personal opinion. I don't think it was any fault of the execution of the dish. The last thing we had was the bread pudding. It was unfortunately cold in the middle. It also needs some whip or ice cream. We will definitely be back. Overall...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW* We finally made it back to Lewis and Main after 2 separate dinners that weren't the greatest. I'm happy to report that the things we were disappointed with had been corrected. I ordered exactly the same as I did before. Filet Mignon was cooked as it should be. Corn bread was great. My Husband said the only thing they didn't "Fix" was how heavy handed they are with the salt. which I could agree with but I think that may just be their style of cooking... One thing I think could be improved is the Filet Mignon only comes with a mashed potato and steak. I think its an incomplete dish considering you're paying $70 for an 8oz steak and a scoop of mashed potatoes, maybe add some roasted veg. It used to come that way when they first opened L&M so, I'm not sure why that got changed. Overall, they improved and it was a better experience the 3rd time around. to give you an idea on service time our reservation was at 5pm and we finished dessert at about 7pm.
I would like to thank Brian for reaching out and asking us to come back.
OLD REVIEW* I’d like to start by saying this is our 2nd time at L&M. Our first visit was within the first couple months of the grand opening, following our second visit just last week. Our first visit we enjoyed Brussel sprouts and calamari which was fine little on the salty side of things but nothing that stood out. Then came dinner… both my husband and myself ordered a Tenderloin which came with potatoes and some roasted veggie's, both steaks were completely raw - (black and blue in my opinion). We notified our server - they threw it back in the pan and brought it back to our table… STILL RAW. The executive chef came out and apologized profusely, offered a free dessert… Crème brûlée came also “raw”. We got our check and left dissatisfied but hopefull that these were just growing pains and they needed some time to get their footing. Now, for our most recent visit… We started with a Buttered baguette and artichoke hearts…SALTYYYY completely inedible. We let the server know, she notified the kitchen. For the main course we ordered a tenderloin with Gorgonzola & and a Demi glaze (Med Rare) My husband ordered a wagu beef burger. The steak - completely raw… black and blue I’m talking still white and red. Hardly even seared. (Pictures attatched) The Gorgonzola cream sauce - Completely separated and was gritty. (Pictures attatched) The burger - soaked. Bun fell apart, burger itself was mediocre. Let the server know, she offered a dessert - so again we did the crème brûlée in hopes it was better than the first time… To no surprise it was raw… again. Like watery milk in a bowl.
Bottom line, I think the chef needs to take a serious look at who he’s keeping in the kitchen and making sure that there is someone checking every dish before it goes out. I know his standards are better than this and being personally asked to come back and try again and him not even coming to the table to apologize, it’s not 5 star service it’s not even restaurant quality.
I think Josh should take a trip up to Larch Leavenworth or WildFlour Leavenworth and take some SERIOUS notes on restaurant standards and overall quality of food.
(Larch Leavenworth + WildFlour Wenatchee - an hour away same price points 100x better quality)
Sure- it’s decent* food for Monroe… but nobody’s going to drive miles for it.
