We have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Oystertown since their first pop-up a couple years ago, and our last meal with this talented duo at Poppy Hall. Big Sur Bakery founding Chef Philip Wojtowicz’s talent and creativity in the kitchen has created a menu filled with fresh and delightful dishes. There is something for everyone! Where to begin? Be sure to order one of each from the Raw Bar. Plan to order more than one Old Bay Hot Cross Bun, and use it to sweep every plate clean. The fun butter, their Hippie Hand Grenade, the Italian meatballs with red sauce, and the chopped salad, so much happiness emanates from his kitchen! Meanwhile, Monica Schweiger‘s many talents balance the pace of the entire experience. Her imaginative design of the entire space provides a much needed original concept upon the Monterey Peninsula. Their beverage program highlights local talent, and compliments with classic parings for each of Chef’s offerings. Save room for dessert, as their imaginative finishes make it difficult to have just one. Case in point, the Banana Pudding with its Oyster ‘Cracker Jack’ & peanuts. Bring a friend, or two, and plan to order a bit of everything and enjoy! Thankful for our new little family run...

Visited pretty close to opening. Service was wonderful. Interesting vibe that’s different from other restaurants, it feels personal without being too intimate. I enjoyed it. Definitely more of a small fancy plate place that’s on the pricey side. My partner preferred the premium oysters over the dressed oyster (4.2/5) but both were wonderful 4.6/5. Had the tuna crudo, it was tasty and refreshing 4.6/5. Shrimp cocktail was also refreshing and classic and 4.5/5. Chicken and spinach ravioli were scrumptious 4.7/5. Comes with about 4 ravioli with a delicious rich sauce. Italian chopped salad also delicious 4.4/5. Bread plate was tasty about 4.1/5; would enjoy a more of a highlight to the dish. For dessert we tried the banana pudding which was the best I’ve ever had from a restaurant 5/5. The buena vista was also sensational, 4.8/5. The chocolate mousse with olive oil ice cream was different, not too sweet and divine 4.8/5. A lovely little place with a menu that’s...

We were looking to find some oysters after visiting the area and were able to find this location nearby. The moment we entered, we were bombarded with eyes staring at my partner and me. Keep in mind they were all white. We tried a couple different oysters and then got offered their special of the day, which was lobster rolls. The moment we received the rolls, we took a bite, only for my partner to notice mold on the bread. It was absolutely disgusting. The molding bread was placed hidden upside down. I also noticed the bread was toasted on both sides. To top it off, we were able to see the chefs cook basically in front of us. Tell me, how does an average normal person can check bread for mold before cooking, and a so-called “chef” didn’t notice? If it was the special of the day, don’t you think they would have known? We felt discriminated against because of our race. There is no other...

Oysters at Oystertown are some of the best I’ve ever had. After a disappointing oyster lunch at a highly rated spot from my last post, dinner here felt heaven sent. Six chef-selected oysters, two of each variety, and all divine. Acadian Pearl is delicately sweet, Pacific Gold is rich and creamy, and Shigoku has a fresh, ocean-forward flavor. Beyond the oysters, the Swan Crudo and the steamed mussels are absolutely amazing too. 🏠 Oystertown 📍 281 Lighthouse Ave, Monterey, CA #USFoodieHub #Oystertown #Monterey #BayArea #California #Oyster #Seafood

Oystertown in Monterey quickly became one of my favorite spots! Unlike many seafood places here, it doesn’t have an ocean view, but the food more than makes up for it. The oysters were outstanding—fresh, briny, and full of flavor. We tried Shigoku (WA), Pacific Gold (CA), and Acadian Pearl (Canada). Each had its own character, and they were so good you don’t even need lemon or sauce. We also loved the Swan Crudo with hamachi, salmon, and scallop (the scallop was especially sweet), as well as the steamed mussels and Old Bay hot cross buns. Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared. The restaurant itself is new and stylish, and the staff were super friendly. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Monterey! I’m already planning to come back😎
