Yowzer! Just realized I've been eating here for years and never wrote a review! Here goes: The Food - The Thai cuisine is wonderful. I have Thai/Laotian pee-po in my family and have eaten it all my life, all over the world! It's authentic and flavorful. Amazing dishes you should try? Pad Woon Sen (2-3 spicy), Pad Pik Paow (2-4 spicy), Kei Krob (3-5 spicy), Golden Noodles (2 spicy), Pho (pronounced "fuh" people!), and Massaman Curry. Japanese is pretty generic, but best in the area (better than Shiki) IMO. Sushi is always fresh and they have buy 2 get 1 free on Thursdays! All the appetizers are great and the Tom Kha soup is one of my favorites. The Staff - While some nights they can be a little slower than others, the waitstaff is always super friendly and polite. Stephanie is our usual/favorite waitress and always does a superb job! Candice also rocks it consistently. Other Opinions - 1) If you have never eaten here before, don't get it to-go if you can help it. The food overcooks itself and you lose the great textures the chefs worked hard to perfect. 2) The dinner portions are enough to make two meals out of (but you will want to eat it all in one go). 3) I don't drink but all my friends think the selection of Asian beers and Saki are excellent. What I Would Like to See - 1) More gluten-free options for my Celiac hommies. 2) More sustainable to-go containers. 3) Banh Mi's! I'm so sick of driving to Charlotte for a great French-Vietnamese sandwich. 4) More waitstaff on Fri/Sat/Sun. (this is where a majority of the complaints for this restaurant are coming from...). 5) The Pad Thai use to be the staple dish you ordered, but the recipe has changed and it's now too sweet and the noodles aren't very good IMHO.
To other reviewers: The food is not "bland". You straight-up don't have taste buds or are augmenting the original recipes to heavily. Don't forget how much people (who leave "bad" reviews) like to exaggerate time frames. ;) @Syphon Filter. This restaurant doesn't even have mackerel or dinner rolls. Review the correct...
Read moreMy wife and I frequent this restaurant. Usually we get Pad Thai for the lunch special. A few times we have called in for this special right before the 3 pm cutoff. Never had a problem until Friday. My wife wanted the lunch special after she had foot surgery and woke up from recovery. On the way home I called it in like the past. I told them we would not be able to eat in but sometimes in the past for special reasons like this they would pack it up. The lunch special has 2 additional items as a special. It comes with a small rice soup and a spring roll. Usually it is around $9.00. TODAY I ordered it on the phone and told them and they said no problem. It would be up front and ready. Pay upon arrival. I asked for a little extra sauce too and that usually isn't a problem either. I go in and the owner/manager who is always there rings me up. He said $17 . I said that is not the lunch price. He said we added the rice soup and the lunch special is for dine in only. I had been through a long long day and just wanted to go home and get my wife settled. We did not get anything asked for. No extra sauce and a rice soup we were charged for and the Pad Thai charged regular price not lunch special price. Also NO spring roll! This guy has always in the past runs around the restaurant terrorizing his employees, especially the waitress' there and always a high turnover and now I know why. This was not a good business decision on his part at all. Now my wife is mad and said that is it. We have been good customers for years and know the specials. I guess we can go uptown Mooresville NC to that otherThai Restaurant. This is ashame !! Please sir enjoy the extra $8 you...
Read moreMy family and I had the worst experience at this restaurant. We have been there many times and love the food. We went there today on Mother’s Day of all days. My father in law noticed the owner was abusing one of the teenage employees at the door in front of everyone. We finished our food which was good as usual. We all walked out and my father in law decided to stay back and talk with the owner which was great and nice in all past visits about his treatment of this teenage employee. He just let him know that was very poor behavior in front of everyone, not just for the employee, but for himself and how he portrayed the business. The owner proceeded to aggressively tell him that it’s his business and he will do what he wants as he sees fit. He also said “when you have a restaurant, you can run it the way you want.” My father in law said I can decide to no longer come here and the owner basically told him to not come back. That all being said. If this teenager was my son and I saw this treatment, there would have been words and possibly more. If I saw this owner talk to my father in this way, there would have been words and more… on Mother’s Day of all days. That all being said, the food is always great here… the restaurant is always dirty including the bathroom. This owner would never and I mean never talk to my father and father in law in my presence in that way, especially my father and father in law that served in our military as they both had. We will not go back there and if they do, I will have words with this owner on the way in the door to get him to understand how you treat the people that make what you...
