PicNik’s — Restaurant in Mooresville

LETS START WITH IMA FOODIE AND I LOVE FOOD. WELL GREAT PREPARED FOOD. This place USED TO BE one of MY FAVORITE places to eat. SHOUT OUT TO STEPHANIE and her twin sister and a couple of the other ladies who serve there. The Black lady that is NOW or was a couple of months ago the short order cook IS ON FREAKIN POINT. IT IS THE OWNER(Mother) and sometimes the daughter or it's sometimes the owner(daughter )and ALL THE TIME THE MOTHER. I have gotten 2 different stories of who owns the place. Either the mama or the daughter. The MAMA IS EITHER RACIST OR PREJUDICE. 2 different things google it. I don't know which. I've not really seen other people of color there to eat unless I bring them, so not quite sure. The thing is I USED TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THE PLACE. Bragged on it even before they got the new cook. BUT AFTER BAYBAY!! So good I was tipping Stephanie and the cook. I will admit when I go out to eat I'm VERY PARTICULAR about my food. At first, there was no consistency on the food quality. Having to send it back maybe 2 or 3 times. NEVER ASKED FOR FREE FOOD OR MY MONEY BACK. Then they got themselves a Black Lady (Sorry cant remember her name) short-order cook. MY LAWD Stephanie knows how I like my food and when I ordered JEEZZZZUUUUS. I went back like 3 days in a row. She was surprised I had been back so many times. I told her food was GREAT. The 3rd time quality sucked again. I asked why that's when she told me. After that, I started calling first to see if NEW cook was cooking before I went. The last time I went, I took my granddaughter. The new cook was cooking. We put half in to-go boxes and started on the other half. Stephanie asked us BOTH how the food was and we both said not good. We sent it back. The MAMA came back with attitude and said well y'all ate most of it, I'm not sure what you want. I looked at her (now this is the 3rd TIME SHE HAS BEEN RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO ME) one time I had been taking pictures of the spot to post on my Instagram to shout out the place. The MAMA started yelling at me I couldn't take pictures of the people(I KNOW). Once she informed me SHE WAS THE OWNER and it was her place and basically what she said went. Well, this time I was tired of her rudeness and I wanted to show my granddaughter that classy and my dollars make the difference between ignorant and rudeness. So I politely said excuse me. We didn't eat it all here's the other half of the food in the to-go boxes. She looked at us and the boxes and said oh. Took the to-go boxes to make completely new orders. I asked to make sure the cook had made my food and was remaking my food. She said yes. I didn't believe her. Because the young lady had NEVER MESSED UP AN ORDER OF MINE BEFORE. I told Stephanie what happened and I wouldn't be back. I miss that food, the other servers, and especially Stephanie, but I can't go back. So I really don't know how to answer the star questions. To get straight to the point, we were recommended this place and I don’t go just anywhere to eat so I chose not to eat there when the young lady answered the phone it was off from that point on so no I would never recommend this place to anyone first and foremost The way the young lady answered the phone was a throw off. We ordered our food food, bland, and unseasoned and my kids said it was my niece had ham that taste like vinegar it back and she said the food just did not taste right. My son ordered some type of steak and gravy and biscuits , he said it was not seasoning. It taste bland, but my kids have been taught to eat what you asked for so as he got further into his potatoes, he found a long strand of hair that was fried into his potatoes so I called the restaurant and told them what we found , and some lady older lady answered the phone and she was very disrespectful and very nasty and rude. She said to me didn’t you just bring a few things back? I said no I did not. I said we bought one thing back. I said why do that matter if I’m telling you hair was in my food me nor my sons or my niece have long hair so she was very upset about us bringing that back. I told her I will bring the food back to her then she called me back again. It was telling me to bring the food back. I said I told you I would bring the food back to you so I brought the food back to her. She wanted to see the hair, so in the middle of me trying to show her the hair because I didn’t wanna look at it because it was disgusting. The food fell on the floor her back and started saying some stuff out her mouth to some guy and other people standing in the corner and so she gave me three dollars back and some change for the potatoes, which I’m sure the side probably cost more than that. I really have not looked into it but the whole point of you being nasty disrespectful , and getting angry because your customers aren’t satisfied with your nasty food I would not go there. I would never recommend them to anyone. Stay home and cook something. I’m teaching my kids every day and they like to learn the hard way by the way are...

I'm giving this a generous 3 because it is not a chain restaurant and the staff was nice. We stopped in for lunch after seeing the 4.5 star rating. I first noticed the desert case looked nothing like it did on the website that said homemade desserts, it looked like single serves you would buy at Target or something and I thought I wonder how often the check dates on those, sure enough a lady got the banana pudding took one bite squeezed the rock hard vanilla wafers and sent it back. Waitress removed all remaining banana pudding from the case. Looking around a saw a bowl on the floorto the left bottom corner of the dessert cast to catch water dripping from the kitchen refrigerator, never a good sign. I ordered the southern burger for $8 with chili and slaw. I could be wrong but judging by the square edges of the burger and the texture I would say this was a frozen Patty. Slaw was an off white color with no flavor and the chili was nothing special. My wife had hot dogs and they were fine she said but she agreed about the slaw overall everything very bland. I would assume this place specilizes on breakfast and sandwiches so best they just take the burgers off the menu in my opinion if they are not gonna cook fresh good seasoned burgers for $8, honestly cookout burgers have more flavor than these block looking things cooked on a flat top. Personally I also have a thing about carpeted restaurants you can't really get every nook and cranky clean so I find carpeted restaurants strange. Who knows the breakfast here might be great, I hope so because its great to see non chain restaurants.
