UPDATE: I'm lowering my rating from 2 stars to 1.
I went into this store to grab bread and a few other items today while I was on my way to pick up my daughter from school. We are EBT recipients.
First of all, you can't make a split payment at their new self checkouts when using an EBT card, but there is nothing to indicate that anywhere. No stickers, no signs, nothing. I make split payments with this card all the time at every other grocery store I go into.
If that had been the only issue, I could have been ok with it. No big deal, I'll go to a cashier...
Except that the cashier couldn't figure out how to process the transaction. And instead of calling for a manager or asking for any help at all from anyone she just said "it's not working" and that was it. AND SHE WALKED AWAY!!!
I called the customer service number and my card is active and there was no reason on the card side for it not to work. When the cashier came back I told her nothing was wrong with the card. And again all she did was shrug her shoulders and again repeat "its not working."
I left without any groceries because I didn't have another way to pay for them. I told her forget it, I'll go somewhere else.
So thank you, Food Lion, because between now having to pick up my child, and go to another store, and doctors appointments I have this afternoon, I don't have time to eat and im going hungry.
You can take your "Food Lion Feeds" BS and shove it, because your employees don't give a sht how their attitudes and actions affect other people.
Oh, by the way, I had ZERO problem using my card at Walmart after I left your store.
Normally this is my favorite store to shop for groceries at. It has been for years. It's quiet, it's affordable, and they still employ actual human beings. However, today was very different from the experience I normally have there.
I interacted with 4 different employees while I was in the store today and not a single experience with any of them was positive.
After pacing up and down isles for nearly 20 minutes looking for an item I know I have purchased in this store before, I decided to ask someone. I asked 3 someones, actually. The first person told me "Look in the front right corner of the store." Couldn't/didn't bother giving me an isle number and the front right corner of the store is personal care, not food. So I asked another employee when I realized I still wasn't going to find what I was looking for. He didn't have any clue but said it was probably one of two isles I had already paced up and down. The third I spoke to didn't even speak back! She just shrugged and shook her head!
Not a single one of these people offered to get someone who would actually know or be able to help at all. DAY ONE OF BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING IS IF YOU DON'T KNOW, ASK SOMEONE.
I gave up, put what I was going to cook back on the shelf, checked out my remaining items and the cashier not only didn't speak to me, she carried on a conversation having nothing to do with anything with the employee in line behind me, bagged my fresh deli lunches upside down, and couldn't even be bothered to give me the total for the purchase.
What is going on in your...
Read moreI have a newer Food Lion 3 minutes from my house and I am grateful for that. BUT this is MY Food Lion from the 1st time I stepped foot in the store. I liked the height of the shelves, cleanliness and the most friendly staff! I found my most FAVORITE coconut water there #MOJO. At one point they started ordering sparkling Coconut water and I was dishearted. One day the manager and assistant manager were walking toward me and I decided to say something. I told them if they would switch back to The original pure #MOJO coconut water I would buy them out every week and I do my best to so. This past week I went to the store to pick up a few things and I went through Carol's line. She's so polite and nice, I enjoy checking out with her! She warned me that the frozen veggies I got had a tendency to split the bags to be careful. When I got home, she was right. I realized after I had shred my receipt that my Tom's deodorant was missing. It was late and raining so I decided not to run back up to the store. I was in there yesterday and mentioned it to Carol. She said check with Customer Service. So I went over and the manager just happen to be there. I explained what happened and he said just go get another one. I said but I don't have my receipt. He said that's ok. So I went and got another one and went back to show him what I had got and explained what happened with a group of teenagers while I was looking for my deodorant a few days prior. He didn't have to allow me to get a replacement but he did. Because I had already decided if it dropped I hoped someone that really needed it found it. I really, really like everything about this store...
Read moreThis is my wife's experience at Food Lion. I have to send out a huge shout out to my local Food Lion (529 E Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115). I arrived there this morning around 9:30am with my twins in tow. I put them in their stroller and grabbed a cart to pull along to hold my food. After adventuring down the produce section I headed to the next isle. It was slow going trying to push my double stroller, keep my babies happy, pull a cart with one hand, and shop at the same time. Ms. Susan must have seen me struggling because she came straight towards me and asked me to please let her watch my babies while I finished shopping. I was so relieved for the help! She took my babies and shared them with the other staff while I got to shop in peace! I am so grateful for her! Susan also helped me load my groceries into my cart during check out, walked my cart to my car, and unloaded them as well! It is the little things that help so much when you are a mom of multiples! I had to share what great customer service she provided to me today and the appreciation for going above and beyond to help a momma out! Thank...
