Rio 150 Mexican Restaurant - River Hwy — Restaurant in Mooresville

Horrible Birthday experience at this restaurant!!! My family and I went to the River Hwy location on 8/13/2024 and there was one thing after another. Waitress was very impatient with us and was trying to multi-task cleaning off tables and going behind the bar to make drinks. Each time that she came to our table she would tell us to "hold on", or "one sec", and she would be gone for extended periods of time. We arrived at 7:30 and literally were the last party in the restaurant at 9:30 and they closed at 10pm! We tried to order margaritas which the restaurant is well known for. The waitress took 2 drink orders of the 6 and put us on hold. My sister ordered the mangonada drink, not realizing it was a frozen daquiri. Waitress came back to the table to change this for my sister. She specifically said, " I did not realize that was a frozen drink, let me change it to a regular mango margarita jumbo." The waitress repeated the change back to her and 15 minutes later she brings a frozen mango margarita! When it was time to order food which was almost an hour after our arrival... I ask her to start at the other end of the table which she refused to do because "she had an order of how she wanted to do things", according to how she took our drink orders. I guess so that she didn't get confused. I ask this because my daughter was Not ready to place her order yet and that is the person the waitress wanted to start with. So, because my daughter was not ready... She Put us ON HOLD AGAIN!!!!!! and walked away!!!! When she came back, we were ready to order... She took 5 orders and when she got to me, I grabbed a menu to show her what I wanted... as I am flipping through the pages, she asks my friend beside of me " If SHE was ready to order"? TO which I Replied "WAIT A DAMN MINUTE ain't nobody even in the restaurant anymore for you to be so impatient and rushing! Now a few minutes ago You refused to go "out of order" while taking orders, now you trying to skip me"! At that point we requested to speak with a manager. We saw her go talk with him for about 5 minutes before he came to our table. We explained the entire experience and he took my sisters drink to finally remake it and my queso dip because it came out cold! He told my sister that he would comp those two items since they were not to our satisfaction... after ordering our food, I ( birthday girl ) was the last one to get my food. Plate was hotter than the actual meal! When the tickets came, everything was still on my sisters ticket including the items that were supposed to been taken off! She as for the manager AGAIN. He was eating his dinner, so another manager came over. We again explained to him what had happened to which he replied, " I am the owner, we remade the drink and dip, nothing will be free"! we tried explaining to him what we were told form the manager and HE WAS NOT LISTENING OR EVENTRYING TO ACCOMIDATE in any way. He was rude and forceful in letting us know he did not care how our service was and that he wanted payment! This was the most disrespectful, inconsiderate dining experience! Of course, we will never eat there again but I'm sure the owner couldn't care less if we did or not! I honestly feel had we been of different race (we are African American) the owner would not have treated us this way and there would have been more consideration towards...

We were guests of Rio150 Mexican Restaurant tonight. I write real reviews and tell the truth about the food. This is the best Mexican food we have ever had! My husband is quite the cook and he was equally impressed. We both discussed the flavor profile and it was on point!

They immediately come out with chips and salsa-one was hot and the other mild, and we have had our share of chips and salsa in our lifetime of dining out but my husband and I immediately remarked that this salsa tastes different, something you would find in some far off Mexican town. Within moments our server Yaneth arrived to greet us. Right off the bat, we liked her personality. She is knowledgable & enthusiastic about the restaurant. My husband asks a lot of questions. We are picky. We only want the best dishes. She knew all the details about every Mexican dish we asked about. I was so impressed by her! I got the feeling anything we tried would’ve been delicious. We also met the manager, Rashel who came out with more salsa options and this incredible Guacamole Mexicana that blew us away!

The Ceviche was perfect, so fresh tasting, the QuesaBirria tacos with the bone broth are to die for and the quesadilla Mexican dinner was exactly the way it should be! Absolutely delicious!

After dinner we went shopping and I told multiple people about our the food and our experience.

I loved Rio150 so much that I am about to share another review on our neighborhood Facebook page in DAVIDSON. If I could give this restaurant more than 5...

UPDATE: Place changed from La Unica to RIO 150 Wheww what can I say. Place seems very popular. Didn't mind the wait since before the name change I had multiple great experiences. I personally thought the food sucked. Service sucked. Waited 18 minutes to get our drink. That's unacceptable. My chili releno was a pepper wrapped in an omlette that was cold and tasteless with zero kick. I decided not to eat it. The beef burrito tasted like the powdered taco seasoned meat. My enchiladas were also beef when ordered chicken. Sauce was canned garbage. Rice was bland. It's apparent the locals have zero clue what Mexican food tastes like...I would think that Mexicans working there would agree with me? Maybe they are all from NC as well. Definitely not like they have on the west coast. Would be nice to find Mexican food here and not tex Mex taco bell tasting garbage. Pina colada was nice. Overall terrible rating from the time I sat down until the time I left. I didn't even get a thank you or a "how is your food sir" 🤔 waiter was absent for the most part. Oh and your "salsa" is like tomato soup with chili peppers in it. I would even use that as taco sauce.

Best Mexican I've been able to find since moving from the west coast. FANTASTIC service! Was extremely pleased with all my servers. They were fast, kind, and always...
