Delightfully quaint an' distinctly charming an' tidy locallish casual comfort and warm welcome vibe by the characters tending the operations . . . which is the real wheelhouse of this delicious eatery. Look up and to the left to find the daily specials (each ay'v tried from here gets the eater sublimely well to "3-clicks-shy of (foodie) Nirvana"...by the 2nd . . . and then INTO the 3rd . . . bite). Try also anything from the "regular" menus of sandwich, salad, burger, & soup: each item a well-crafted and chef-curated concept that sure was likely FUN to test-sample the variants of as they zeroed-in on "blam: now THIS is IT", . . . each iteration prepared and assembled by hearty and beyond just kinda capable "hands"...with smiling faces. Nice selection of draft craft beers, too, to make pairing food an' drink a worthwhile EXTRA pause before final decisions get set to spoken word. Also, save room for desert if you care or dare to. A friend who visits with me (and aye with he) just REALLY digs tha carrot cake, like blithely nervous an' giddy mere at the tennable an' tangible thought...becoming word spoken aloud . . . and the affirming host echoes back her line amid a chorus of angels he's hearing sing, . . . it quite seems. ...and this is just in the placing of and paying for such requests, and YEAH . . . even slightly moreso at the mystic flight well-plated in VERY generous portion by guiding hands of hosts who know how to get the good stuff to just the right spot for the enrapturously joyful customary incremental deplating ritual. (aye mean, YES, its a better than merely GOOD carrot cake to sample and enjoy, . . . but also to just be nearby to somebody whom is ALSO, well, enjoying their already not unenjoyable daily sojourning prior to the mid-day meal . . . blissfully radiating tha JOY-vibe yet and even moreso.) More than just my buddy does THAT in THIS dining room, so when "in town" and they're open at the same time you're . . . ...don't miss that first time ever visit. ...and return again periodically thereafter at your casual. Come enjoy some exquisite eats an' drinks, remembering also to fly and shine your heart's quiet and more...
Read moreFirst timer to Flavor Factory in Morro Bay. Extensive menu! They even have a salad bar! Something I have missed in this area. I hope salad bars are making a comeback. Got their cheeseburger with everything. Burgers come with fries or macaroni salad. I chose the fries. Fries were good although not what I'm used to seeing. They are unpeeled russets with seasoning which gives them a dark amber color. Crisp on the outside and creamy inside. Just a tad dry.
I must say this is a superior burger. Thick, juicy, flavorful. Looked to be cooked to medium, although they didn't ask what I wanted and I made no request. Fresh toppings include lettuce, onion, tomato, and pickle. Attention all other burger joints: This is the right pickle to use on a burger. Not sweet, not overpoweringly sour, just enough acid to complement the other toppings. They use a sauce similar to Thousand Island. I added mustard from their basic condiment bar. Really could not have been better if I cooked it myself.
My only complaint is the bun. Too soft and squishy to hold up to this big, juicy burger. A toasted ciabatta bun might be a better choice.
They also offer hot and cold sandwiches, salad bar, and desserts. Basic beverage assortment including beer. Large eat-in dining area. Easy to find in a shopping center with lots of free parking.
October 2019 Update: was staying nearby and thought I'd have another superior burger. What a GOOD idea! Regular cheeseburger and fries even better than I remember. This time I got it to go and they included a small container of their special sauce. I would buy a gallon of this and put it on everything. It's a perfect blend of creaminess and spices with a hint of smoke. Go to Flavor...
Read more11/7/22 decided on lunch on a rainy day. My husband got his usual dirty Ernie and I got sliders, 3 lovely small burgers with different toppings. And a cup of potato green chili soup. The soup was very good, creamy and with just the right amount of heat! And they have the best fries! Everything was very good and was glad to have stopped at this hidden gem.
Went in not knowing what to expect. My husband ordered Dirty Ernie and I got a Reuben. We also ordered a carrot cake for dessert. His sandwich though definitely a heartache with bacon, roast beef, onion rings, big sauce, etc., was sooo good. My Reuben was one of the best that I've had. The french fries were very good. We took the carrot cake to go. It was a little denser than I am used to but had a good flavor and the icing was good. This place is a hidden delight...
