Sadly we did not have a good experience here. My mom has gone here previously and loved it, so she wanted us to try. Our family isn't one to complain but this trip here this time was horrible service and the food was not good.

We got here, were seated and just mentioned we were waiting on one other person, and she came in a few moments later. The server didn't come back to us for over 20 minutes after getting our drink orders. So we brought it up, said she thought we were still waiting on people and that's why she didn't come get our order. Mind you, she saw when our guest came in since she took her drink order. Then once we put our order, it took forever for our food to come. We were there for over an hour before we got all of our food (minus clam chowder that never came). The fish in the fish and chips was chewy (the child's fish and chips was not), and the combination seafood plate was overcooked. Once we left, we noticed she still charged us for the clam chowder we never received. We had to go back and get the refund. We asked to speak with the manager when we came back, and our server said she was...

This was our 2nd time ordering from here. We had a great experience the 1st time so came back again. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes gravy and seasonal vegetables. My meal also came with a house salad that I ordered with ranch dressing. My hubby ordered the fish and chips. We loved our food for the most part. The only thing about my food was that they automatically put marinated beets on my salad. 😳 I do not like beets and especially didn't want them on my salad. It was so fun picking out all the pieces before I soothed my growling belly. But we did a take out order so.. The ranch was good and we liked everything for the most part except that they didn't give us any utensils.😳😳 How am I supposed to eat a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy with no utensils?? Luckily we were staying at a hotel with metal kitchen utensils. 🙏🏽 Other than those couple things we had a great experience and will be back. The customer service was great and the dining room was full. They must be doing something right.😊 They also sell baked desserts that looked delicious. I need to try...

I really don't understand all the 5 star reviews! The only thing I can say is our server was very nice. Although she knew nothing about the menu. I ordered the shrimp and crab scramble with hollandaise. I didn't really see any crab. The hollandaise is out of a container not made there. It was runny and flavorless! I asked for the manager and told her I wasn't happy. I asked her if the hollandaise was made there she said no. And pretty much walked away leaving my plate sitting in front of me. Not wanting to solve the problem. Not asking if I wanted something else. Our waitress really didn't either in till she came back a second time. She was very apologetic. Finally asked me if I wanted something else. I just had a cup of clam chowder. It was so so. Very thick and not many clams and not very tasty. My husband had the beef dip. It was just ok. So it seems not much is made in house. The mashed potatoes are instant. The hollandaise is not made there. Yuck! I do not recommend the Hungry Fisherman! There are far better places to eat in Morro Bay that...

We had a great experience bringing a large party here for our son’s high school graduation celebration. The person who took my original reservation was very sweet, and everyone I spoke to when I had to keep calling back to add people last minute was very accommodating. We ended up with 13 people, who all found something they really enjoyed on the menu. All the food seemed very fresh, looked great, and the portions were large. A nice, reasonably priced, bottle of wine & yummy pies & cakes that looked house made added to the fun! The staff was very kind, and even brought out a dessert with a birthday candle, so we could sing to our guest who turned 16 that day. Our guests were also remarking on how they enjoyed the decor of the restaurant, from the seaside decorations to the video screens running current shows. Overall, I’m super happy we chose this great local spot for our family gathering.

My husband and I have been here before but it had been some time since our last visit. Why? I have no idea! The food here was absolutely fantastic. It's pretty difficult to find a chicken fried steak made in the restaurant these days and I always ask before I order, "Is the chicken fried steak made in house?" The waitress assured me it was and boy, it did not disappoint. All the food was excellent. It says on the menu that you have to ask for toast if you want it to accompany your meal. Apparently, my husband missed that. Needless to say, I shared mine with him. There was no way I could finish my meal and we ended up taking food to go. We are looking forward to our next visit to Morro Bay and I know where we'll be having breakfast. The Hungry Fisherman is probably the best breakfast you'll find in town.

I have been eating here since I was a little girl, like 4 years old, I am now 29 and still my absolute favorite place to eat of all time. Never once have I had a bad experience and even after the remodel my grandmother says the biscuits and gravy is still great! And my personal choice is the clam chowder, just finish eating it and still just as great as I have always remembered! Edit: I was visiting my grandparents over the weekend and OF COURSE had to eat here, but needed to share a photo of my amazingly delicious burrito I can't ever finish cuz its HUGE. Do not sleep on this restaurant, try other foods not just fish and chips. These are my favorites 1. Clam Chowder 2. Grande Burrito Plate - Pork meat 3. Machaca Scramble 4. Chocolate chip waffles 5. Club Sandwich 6. Everything on the menu 😄
