China 8 — Restaurant in Mount Dora

Every time I eat from here, I like it even more. This time I chose to dine-in, instead of take-out, as I usually do, because my mother was with me, and was too hungry to wait until we got home. Peter, the owner, treated us like family and royalty at the same time.

The food was so fresh and delicious, as it always is, but even better because we started eating it immediately after it was served. They make the best shrimp with mixed vegetables and peppers steak, plus their shrimp and cabbage egg rolls are the best in town.

When Peter saw how tired my mother looked, after her medical appointment, he was so kind to serve us some of their delicious egg white cloud soup (egg drop soup), which was a perfectly delicious and light way to break our fast, since we hadn't eaten anything all day and it was almost 3pm. He also served us a sample of his aromatic edible flower tea, which was also very generous and kind of him.

I think I will start dining in, instead of taking it to go, from now on. The place is very clean and the atmosphere/ decoration is very inviting, in spite of the small space, with only a few tables.

I'll start coming here more often than ever before, after this experience. Thanks again and...

Wow! Where do I even begin. China 8 wasn’t just a good place to eat. But a great place to spend my evening, enjoying top notch food at an outstanding price. I recently just moved to Mt Dora and I’ve felt very overwhelmed with all these new restaurants and local cuisine. But when I tried China 8… OH BOY. The second that food touched my tongue my taste buds came with flavor and amazement of what this restaurant had to offer. I’m very particular about what Chinese I consume. But I was not let down. Not to mention the lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful and she helped me and my girlfriend find the perfect meal for both of us. All the workers were very kind and hard-working and the atmosphere was blossoming with positivity. I WILL be returning. The kind lady at the front desk alone would bring me back 100 times again. My husband and I ordered take out on December 1, 2017. After reading the reviews I felt very confident we had found a good place. First after looking at the menu on line the prices did not match the pricing in the restaurant. The dishes were at least $2 to $4 more. My husband ordered a sea food dish that was supposed to be Lobster, Scallops and Jumbo shrimp. The dish was expensive and as it contained only 2 shrimp one lobster shell with no meat and the rest was vegetables and artificial crab meat made with a Pollock potato starch type meat. It was horrid. In addition he ordered fried chicken wings. Imagine his surprise to pull one out and have it covered in chicken feathers! I felt so bad because it was his birthday and what a way to celebrate throwing his food in the trash. I ordered a vegetarian dish and swelled 2 sizes from way too much sodium and MSG which I am normally not sensitive to. Awful experience. What a waist of...
