Le Petit Sweet — Restaurant in Mount Dora

I ordered my wedding cake from Le Petit Sweet earlier this year. I initially wanted to work with them because I liked a specific design I saw on their instagram.

I emailed them and it took a month to get a tasting appointment since they only offer tastings Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays when available. We filled out a form for $15 in case we didn't show up for the tasting - so that Le Petit can cover the cost of lost cake - since we showed up, we were not charged. We tried 5 flavors: chocolate, red velvet, champagne strawberry, lemon blueberry, and blackberry lime. We ended up choosing blackberry lime. The 3 tiered cake was $300 (6", 8", 10" diameters), delivery was $100, and taxes $21. The bottom tier is supposed to be faux with a marked cake cut out. We supplied out own initials T&T.

However the day of, the bottom tier was unmarked - we had no idea where we were suppose to cut! The only thing we could do was cut into the top tier which we had planned to save for our "1 year anniversary cake." Now we have none :(

The cake was also disappointing because the top of the top tier had a large bump that was very unsightly. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt - maybe they didn't know but alas I saw my cake posted on their instagram with the ugly part cropped out. They never reached out to me for an explanation or even a partial refund.

After posting this review, Brittany, the owner emailed me and was very professional and apologetic.

She took full responsibility for the bottom tier ("it wasn't written on our invoice and so we missed it while we were creating the cake") and the bump on the top tier ("we were not trying to hide (the bump) or intentionally didn't fix it or mention it...the crop in the instagram was purely to showcase the initials and the design of the cake better."

She even offered to make us an anniversary tier at no cost as a small apology. Overall, I feel very grateful that she reached out and I am impressed by her professionalism and accountability. I have updated my rating to reflect this.

UPDATE: I ordered a cake about four months back for my parent's anniversary but recently ordered another cake for my father's 85th birthday. This time I have pics to post and wanted to showcase the beautiful cake that was done for my father, the soldier. He is a veteran who served close to 30 years of his life for our country. I didn't want the usual birthday cake with frosting and Happy Birthday written on it, so I was hoping Le Petit Sweet would be able to do a military custom cake for him. They did an excellent job! I sent some samples and told them my ideas and in the end, they came up with a wonderful design and beautiful cake for my dad! I was so stunned on how beautiful the cake looked with the intricate details from the dog tags to the combat boots! It was truly a work of art! I, along, with my family was so in awe and stunned on how beautiful the cake looked. For custom cakes or any cake, you definitely need to go visit them! The service is great, they listen to what you want and provide a friendly atmosphere. By the way, the cake was delicious as always! Here are some pics of the cake.

---------Review below is 4 months ago--------------------------------- I ordered an eight inch round anniversary cake for my parents and the cake was so delicious! It was a beautiful designed cake and my parents loved it! We had a small celebration with family and everyone thought the cake was beautiful too! I would have posted a pic of it but we had the cake custom made with my parents image on it. There are so many different flavors to select but the mocha flavor with buttercream icing...

I had the absolute pleasure of ordering a custom cake from Le Petite Sweet in Mount Dora, and I can honestly say it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I reached out with my ideas, the team was incredibly professional, attentive, and eager to bring my vision to life.

The cake itself was a masterpiece — beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. They expertly incorporated the unique and delightful flavors I requested: strawberry champagne and mocha amaretto. The combination was perfectly balanced, with the fresh, fruity sweetness of strawberry champagne complementing the rich, velvety mocha amaretto — a true symphony of flavors in every bite.

Not only was the cake visually stunning, but it also tasted absolutely divine. The textures were just right, and it was clear that great care and skill went into every detail. It was exactly what I asked for, and it turned out to be the highlight of my celebration.
