Bagel Bonanza!

I've been going to Jersey Oven ever since I moved to Mt. Juliet! Fresh baked bagels every day, fresh Boards Head deli meat, and Boards Head cream cheeses. They have a huge variety of bagels to choose from. My personal favorite is a toasted french toast bagel with strawberry cream cheese. My partner usually gets a sausage, egg and cheese with jalapeno cream cheese on a toasted garlic bagel. I rate the atmosphere 4 stars because the shop is pretty small and there isn't seating for more than 4 people at a table, so it can get cramped.

Food was good but the service was beyond terrible! Our first time after seeing raving reviews and being bagel lovers figured we’d make the hour drive. Order 3 sandwich one which was the Dawgwood which showed it was meat and cheese no mention of any sauce. We see them making it and one side of the bread I see there is mustard I ask the girl standing at the register if that’s our sandwich if so we don’t want mustard she looks and walks back there we see them roll it up and hand it to us we open it and it’s the sandwich that has mustard so I tell the girl this sandwich has mustard and won’t be eaten she replies and said you’ll have to talk to Nick after standing probably 5 minutes he said what’s wrong I proceed to tell him and he says what do you want me to make you another . Yes please! About another 10 minutes goes by he said we’ll get that out to you shortly I’m polite cause they are busy . They make the next sandwich and when he hands it I said no mustard right he said no mustard just mayo at this point we are likely seriously it was supposed to be meat and cheese only! Frustrated and threw out the side of the bread that had the mayo. Can’t say if we would be back their system seems broken and not fully disclosed on their menu what each sandwich had on it. If the girl we told about the sandwich the first time would have actually told the crew in the back the first time around they could have saved product and headache by just cutting another piece of bread and throwing that one side out.. they definitely worked harder and...

The bagel was average but the most amazing thing happened while one guy was carefully making my sandwich to go. I was impressed how carefully he made sure the oil, vinegar, mayo and mustard were expertly spread on either side of the hoagie. It was taking him a while but at least he was thorough. As he went to slice the meat, the other guy who was in the back walked up and grabbed the bread lying on the counter without gloves. Kinda gross but I was not too concerned until he then took a large bite out of the side with mayo and oil before putting it back on the counter. He then started to correct the other person for cutting the meat too thick for the sandwich, clearly the original guy making the sandwich was new but only unfamiliar with slice size, not sampling the mayo bread for quality control. I was so confused but they both acted like this was the most normal behavior. The original guy finished making the sandwich and handed it to me. I opened it up to ask why I would take a sandwich with the giant bite taken out of the bread and they argued that it didn’t happen. Honestly, I’m still confused if they were just high or pulling a prank. They have cameras pointed at an angle that should have captured this entire interaction and my only regret is not making a bigger deal to get a copy of the video instead of just getting a refund. This was my first visit after hearing about it for quite a while, I did not know anyone there. 3/28 at...

I come into this place every once in a while. I never complain about the food quality, although their service could always do better. The employees always look so miserable and are never friendly. But today the food quality was disappointing. I got a French toast bagel with cinnamon sugar cream cheese, toasted. They did not ask me if it was to go or dine in but I planned on dining in. So they gave it to me to go, all wrapped up, which was no big deal. But when I unwrapped the bagel, about 40% of the cream cheese was oozed out into the paper. It was very sloppy. It's never been that bad before. I wish I had taken a picture but I didn't want people staring at me, wondering why I'm taking a picture of my food. I had to ask for a spoon to scoop up all the cream cheese on the paper since a single bagel cost over $4 now so I don't like to waste my money. When I was done eating it, I got a garlic taste in my mouth which was disgusting. They might have toasted a garlic bagel before mine? But either way, that taste does not go well with French toast/cinnamon sugar. Not sure how to avoid that problem. This place needs to do better AND work on their...
