I was excited to try this since the photos looked so good. I think the food was okay, but it wasn’t great or memorable. The place is tiny, but tidy and cute.
We got 4 protein sandos (2 chicken katsu, 1 shrimp katsu, 1 tamago), 2 fruit sandos (mango & strawberry), 1 chicken teriyaki bento box & 1 sushi deluxe entree.
Chicken Katsu - a bit hard/dry, sauce saved it. Would not get again.
Shrimp Katsu - it’s not a shrimp patty, but individual shrimp (think more along shrimp tempura). The sauce for chicken and shrimp katsu was good, but too runny. Would be better if it was thicker. The price would be more reasonable if this was a shrimp patty. But out of the sandos, this is one I would get again as it was the best out of our bunch.
Tamago - egg was overcooked, soft/med boiled would have been better and it needed a bit more mayo. Would not get again.
The fruit sandos - these were the most disappointing sandos out of the bunch. The whipped cream for both sandos weren’t consistent, the mango one was overwhipped and had a very weird and unpleasant consistency (think of semi blended cottage cheese) and the strawberry one was a bit better, but still a bit over whipped. The bread used was regular white bread, would have been better if they used milk bread. Also I assume these were premade for a while as the bread was a bit dry and had a sort of stale fridge taste. They were in a cute box, but would have retained moisture if they had been wrapped in saran wrap then put into the box. I think the price is a bit high for what you get. It’s $9, but gives $5-6 quality. Definitely would not get again.
Bento box - it was okay. Not bad, but not great or memorable. Reasonable price for what you get.
Sushi deluxe - this wasn’t bad for a place like this. Fresh and within expectations.
Overall, it was good to try once, but not somewhere that I’d go again or crave for. I feel like there needs more work/tweaking done on the sandos. This could be better. The food looks great in photos though, so...

The best sandos I've had outside of Japan proper, and possibly the most perfectly cooked beef katsu I've had anywhere. While I could have used a tiny more acid on the slaw, it's a small ask for such an incredible bite.
The bread is thick cut milkbread, perfectly toasted, and the beef katsu is crunchy while having next to zero chew.
The tamago sando was unctuous, and smooth, while having a deep, rich flavor that held up against any I've had in the US. At $9, I was full and upset at myself for ordering so much after!
The sushi rice was a surprising hit. Properly seasoned, not mushy or dry, and held well. The fish wasn't anything I was writing home about, but the flight showed me that they can craft the piece. With the rice being the star, it was a worthy, but likely singular purchase.

Read moreI ordered the chicken katsu sando, the strawberry sando, the salmon teriyaki onigiri, tuna mayo onigiri, and the matcha milk tea. I wish there was some type of sauce, like a spicy mayo to eat with the chicken katsu. I think that would enhance the flavors a lot or just be a nice option. The bread for the fruit sandos is a bit too dense, but still very good. The cream was nice and smooth also not too sweet and the fruit tasted fresh. If the bread was more fluffy though, it would make them a 10/10. The salmon onigiri was a bit on the dryer side, though the flavor was good. On the flip side, I really enjoyed the tuna mayo one! Lastly, the matcha milk tea tasted good and refreshing! Though it’s just made from powder, i would have expected it to have that powdery texture or after taste, but it did not.
Overall everything was...
