Mellow Mushroom Mount Pleasant — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

I visited the Mount Pleasant Mellow Mushroom on 3/2/13, I was part of a party of 9, our server was Lindsey. I was the only person in the party that needed to be gluten free, I informed out waitress immediately that I was gluten free (I've been gluten free for 12 years, I eat out often, I did my normal heads up routine). She acknowledged that she understood, I mentioned again when we ordered drinks that I was gluten free (at which point she tried to tell me I could only have water...). When it came time to order, I told her three times that I needed a gluten free crust (the other ladies at the table confirmed that I was speaking loud enough to hear). 30 minutes later our pizzas came, I knew right away it wasn't gluten free, it looked fluffy and exactly like the other ladies pizzas. I asked our waitress if mine was gluten free, I had a moment of wondering if I had discovered some magical normal gluten free pizza, but I was informed it was not. Lindsey, our lovely waitress, then argued with me, she informed me that I had asked for a small pizza. After everyone at our table confirmed that I had in fact ordered a gluten free one, she took the regular pizza back and said I would have a new pizza in a few minutes. 45 minutes later (I understand, it was Saturday night, but seriously...it took longer than our original order) my pizza came. Never once did Lindsey or any other staff apologize for the mistake. I worked as a waitress for 5 years, I have never not tipped. Congratulations! To the staff at your Mount Pleasant restaurant for having service so terrible that I left no tip. Everyone at the table was shocked that I was still expected to pay full price for the pizza. Personally, I don't expect hand outs, I appreciate that the restaurant made the effort to have gluten free food (that is HUGE!), but the service was horrible. Looking at reviews online this particular restaurant is famous for bad service. I am not the stereotypical food allergy crazy lady, I understand that I could get sick and if I do, it's my fault for eating out. The service was the problem....

I ordered the Meat Lovers Pizza yesterday with everything on it except no black olives . The service was great and everything just no sliver wear so I had to get up and get it myself but I would think they would automatically give it you because you’re going to be seeded anyway. On the bright side at least the waiter was nice. So then once the pizza was done the meat and everything on the top was so delicious 😋. But the bottom the pizza was burned it was so brown even on the crust which is supposed to be on the best part of the pizza. I will say that apart of it was my fault for not taking a picture of the bottom of the pizza but I showed it to the waiter. He said we can make you another one which was very thoughtful , but he was too late because I was about done with it anyway . This was my favorite pizza restaurant for years and never would I ever think I would get a bad pizza here on the bottom because I‘ve never had a problem. I won’t be returning anytime soon. I will return back not until awhile but still disappointed 😔. The worst part is when I got home from eating that pizza I felt like I had food poisoning from eating there. I’m not sure if it was from this place but I am almost positive it was because my stomach yesterday was good and in the mood for pizza for dinner and that’s why I am almost positive it was from here. But yea going forward I’m going to take a picture of it if I see anything wrong with it. On the bright side at least it was at...

If you enjoy art and culpture like I do you will be really taken with this place. I took a bunch of photos of them to send to my son because I knew he would get a big kick out of them as well... The menu is slightly on the gourmet side and quite interesting. I even found several things that I could enjoy.. I'm a ( vegetarian).. I did order the lunch special of 1 slice of pizza and a salad. They offer 1 free topping for the pizza slice. My opinion... The pizza slice that I got was a bit dried out . The cheese not hot and melty/ stringy.. I figure that the pizza had been baked earlier and when a customer ordered a slice , the topping was added and the pizza was put back in the oven just long enough for the cheese on top to melt... So, If you order the lunch special make sure that you ask them when the pizza origionally was cooked. My lunch partner was very satisfied with what he ordered though. His only complaint was that the portions were so generous that he could only eat half of it. Lol... The service was wonderful and the restaurant was clean and sanitary.... All in all I would highly recommend it. The Mello Mushroom in Summerville is awesome as well. They grow rosemary all along the entrance of the building. ( I always snag a small piece to add...
