Good Ramen at a reasonable price.
I fell in love with ramen after visiting Japan years ago and have had a difficult time finding good ramen here in the states. When you do find it, the restaurants usually charge $13 - $15 for a bowl. Compared to the $4 - $8 bowls in Japan, that's really expensive. I know that there are a few ramen places in Seattle and Belelvue, but I'm not really keen on driving 30 minutes just to get lunch.
Hani Hani offers a pretty decent bowl of Ramen at a price that's better than most. It's not the BEST ramen I've had, but it's no slouch either. They offer a few different types of ramen: Tonkatsu, Shoyu, Miso, Katsu, Tempura and Oxtail. I haven't been brave enough to try to Oxtail yet, but I'm sure that I will eventually!
I learned to ask for them to go easy on the bamboo shoots in mine. The bamboo gives the broth a sweet flavor, which might be desirable for some, but I don't prefer it that way. Also, I went on their 1st opening day and went back a week later and can say that the ramen was much improved on the second visit. This is very common with all restaurants and I look forward to them perfecting their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place! Iād give it 4.5 stars so Iāll round up. The chicken katsu is crispy and fresh and comes with the best sauce (order extra). Got it with Mac salad (tangy and creamy but one dimensional) and fried rice (good but needs more salt). It also came with steamed veggies which round out the meal.
The geisha bowl is good, lots of rice and a good variety of toppings. Order extra avocado and extra ponzu as there wasnāt much sauce, but the fish is good sized and fresh.
The ramen was alright, definitely edible but a little one dimensional, but for ramen from a restaurant that doesnāt specialize in ramen, it was good.
TLDR: food is fresh, fast, and tasty, but lacks seasoning at times. Itās helpful to doctor up at home or order...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo many reviews mention that they have great poke... Idk where that came from because their poke bowls are the worst I have had in the PNW. Not sure if customers haven't had better product or if I had a bad batch, but I definitely would not recommend getting a poke bowl from here.
I was born and raised in Hawaii and I know Hawaii isn't known for their quality when it comes to food, but this place wouldn't even stay in business in an Area strip mall for more than a month. The fish is bad quality, they don't know how to cut ingredients properly, and it is more expensive than better places. I really don't know any redeeming qualities of this place. They aren't even friendly......
